Introduction
The article explains that Gender role stereotypes are significant moderators of behavior and women's status especially. The article explains that gender stereotypes often affect women. It also explains that stereotypes are established in parenting. Parents show prospects of gender role conventionality from infancy, and a study has shown parents have gender-typed anticipations of their children from the first few hours after birth. Children understand their parents' expectations of them at an early age two and a half years of age (Sexual Violence Research Initiative, n.d.). This gender typecasts start in the juvenile years, with parents selecting, and recompensing, specific stereotypical actions for their youngsters, from sports undertakings for boys and dolls for girls. The gender stereotypes should, therefore, be modified from a very young age by the parents.
Androgyny and Its Advantages
Androgyny is the amalgamation of male and female features into an abstruse system. Androgyny might be conveyed concerning genetic sex, sexual characteristics, identity, gender manifestation, or sexual individuality (Sexual Violence Research Initiative, n.d.). Raising a child as androgynous helps the child grow into adults who can have a better relationship with people of the opposite gender. That fact is viewed as an enormously positive and motivation to nurture children in a gender-neutral setting since parents want their children to have healthy relationships in the future.
Rigid Gender Stereotyping and Its Relationship in Childhood and Subsequent Adult Behaviors
Rigid gender stereotyping refers to the notion that boys are supposed to stick to certain roles and ladies to certain functions. Ladies are taught to be vulnerable, and boys are taught to be strong and independent. As the two genders grow into adult boys, they become more aggressive in terms of relationships and are more involved in violence, drinking alcohol. They are at a higher risk of being affected by non-conformity to gender stereotypes. Men fall into depression, and since society has branded them the stronger gender, they cannot open up and seek help. Men also result in more aggressive and illegal money-making ways because they are typecast as the providers of their families. The rigid gender typecasting affects men more adversely in adulthood as compared to females. Gender neutrality in society will also emasculate men from toxic masculinity and allow them to express themselves freely.
How Might More Flexible, Non-Stereotyped Gender Schemes Affect the Culture In The Future?
A gender-neutral community will allow more creativity as everybody can express themselves freely irrespective of their gender and notwithstanding any associated roles. Gender neutrality will also enhance the self-esteem of many, thus a good social life in the community. Besides, not being held by certain constructions will also help kids and adults choose hobbies and interests with liberty.
Personal Reaction to the Children's Responses to the Questions Involving Gender Roles
It is shocking to realize that most children have already adopted the gender roles stereotyping at a tender age. They all need a gender-neutral environment to grow in that way; they will learn a variety of chores, and the society will eventually be gender-neutral.
Reaction to the Dramatization of William Holding a Baby Doll? What Does Your Response Tell You About Your View of Stereotypical Gender Schemes? How Would This Affect the Way You Raise Your Children?
From the video on (Phoenixfilmandvideo, 2007) watching, William holding a doll was fulfilling. It was a beautiful scene. The society has made it a grand scene whenever boys play with dolls, or men take as much time as their wives with babies. Gender typecasting should end. I will raise my children in a gender-neutral way and ensure that there are no roles they consider lady's' or gents.' Additionally, they will also be at liberty to express their hobbies, interests, and feelings with no fear of criticism.
