Introduction
There are the requirements of different fields in life, deemed fit for the professional practice, formality and proper implementation of the tasks. They are therefore called for the concerned parties to fully adhere to them as they contribute to the smooth functioning of the system, bringing harmony, peace, coherence, mutual respect, prosperity and coordination for all the parties involved. One of such fields is the human resource departments of the organizations, concerned with the welfare, recruitment, job assignment, training and interviewing of potentially interested employees in various jobs. It is a department that has a host of activities requiring formality and professionalism from both the employees, potential job seekers as well as it management staff. Of particular interest is during the employee recruitment process where their working staff number is being topped up. A well-set panel conducts interviews, and the potential job seekers are asked Criss crossing questions, where their viability to work at hand is being measured. The interviewees are then approved where their virtues and levels of competency are congruent to the job requirements of the organization. In normal circumstances, job interviews are executed in tensed environments where the interviewees are worried about their viability to the provisions of the panel, concerning apt question answering, presentability, and environmental boding well (Gebhard, P et al.2018). In this regard, a story of a job interview is well laid down in the subsequent paragraphs, where the etiquette and moral compass of the candidate was being weighed.
It happened that the Britts Company was in the process of acquiring new staff to work in the customer care and reception lines of duties. It this context, high level of employee etiquette was being called for since they were in direct contact with the clients of the organization. A lot of individual presentability factors were required of them including excellent interpersonal skills, good communication and language mastery, selflessness, dedication and ability to work under extreme conditions with minimum supervision, customer focus as well as ability to be quite responsive and responsible (Zhou Koval, C., & Rosette, A. S. 2016). In this case, the interview panel set proper questions and loopholes to test the etiquette of the interviewees in a bid to sieve the best candidates out of the pack of them. After the advertisement of the positions, there followed many applicants interested in the job and about seventy-two of them were given the opportunity to get interviewed, where indeed only six of them were required to fill the advertised positions. The bottleneck for the sieving of the fitting most employees appeared in the interview where their etiquette and presentability was being tested. They were thus required to do their best and manifest optimal presentations. In the interview, aspects such as table manners, time consciousness, sincerity and honesty, client handling and calmness were tested.
All the invited interviewees turned up but different conditions based on their appearances and level of attainment of the job requirements and the secrets only known to the panel. There were those who arrived late at the interview, and the situation made them even lose more regarding preparedness to answer the set questions. It is because their minds were not composed enough to tackle the interview questions in a circumspective way, with confidence while also focusing on absolute precision and accuracy in answering the questions (Cuddy et al. 2015). Also, their lateness resulted in the reduction of their likelihood to qualify for their sought jobs since they displayed some level of lack of preparedness, laxity and a taste of lack of interest in the first day of physical appearance in the company premises.
Further, some other interviewees failed to clinch their positions of interest because they manifest a lack of mannerism as they interacted with the panel in answering the questions. There are those who showed rudeness and termed some questions as being silly and directionless. They never understood the intents of the panel. It is because such simple questions are asked in a bid to understand the person's temperament under trivial circumstances. Also, some interviewees failed to be recruited in their jobs of interest because they manifested poor mannerism when they were invited for a luncheon by the panel. In this regard, there were many aspects of them being tested by the panel. One of them is their ability to handle well the situations where there are clients to be served yet the server is in the meal. Some were seen talking loudly while with chunks of food in their mouth. One of them got choked by the food in the process and attracted the attention of the customers in the restaurant, where others left eating. They thus lost their jobs of interest in such ways. All the applicants who satisfied the job requirements were recruited.
Conclusion
There is a new trend in interviews where interviewees are taken through the practical parts to demonstrate their competency, such as in the meals. Is it an effective way of assessing the candidates? It is believed that practice makes perfect, but some theories make perfect too. It is hoped that in future, employers will improve their tactical approaches to interviewees since they are normally tensed, to accommodate some slight mishaps as predominant on tensed interviewees.
