My resolution to become a psychiatric technician and becoming neuropsychologist has been impelled due to my interest in psychology since my childhood. Brain human connection has always fascinated me. Moreover, other fascinating factors that stimulated me into pursuing psychology include the ability to take care and support patients with emotional and mental conditions. As a psychiatric technician, I believe it will be my humble obligation to monitor a patient's emotional and physical health. Additionally, with my current studies to be a nationally acetified psychiatric technician, I have learned a lot; trauma, cross-cultural psychology, cognitive science and physiological aspect of psychology just to mention a few that I would like to take further. Consequently, this will enable me to identify any uncommon patients' behavior and take necessary measures alongside other psychologists and therapists to reintegrate such patients.
My neurologist has been an inspirational existence in my life since I was a child, thirteen years of age. I learned so much from him. My neurologist taught me that invisible disorders can cease an individual from winning. He told me that there will be very hard times but one has to be very focused to achieve his or her goals. His approach, leniency, and expertise have enabled me to become a finer person. Additionally, his advice has also provided me with a wider lens to approach patients and their needs appropriately and professionally in my line of duty.
There are so many organizations that I have worked in and they have impacted me so much. Starting my exploitation at traumatic-brain injury clinic in Germany, become a final turning point for both my professional and academic progress. I realized that there exist many resources that can be used to help individuals who have been diagnosed with Post-traumatic stress disorder, a mental health disorder and Traumatic brain injury, and a neurological disorder. Despite that, it may take longer to elevate both a support system and educational tools within the family and societal settings. The revolution of tools and research will greatly assist in availing rehabilitation therapy for the persons as well as giving support to children and spouse of the victim who behold the pain indirectly or directly.
Working with American Red Cross, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, as Neuropsychometrist in Traumatic Brain Injury clinic, I have gained knowledge, skills and research experience that I believe will enable me to provide my services professionally. I have learned to dispense and score neuropsychological and psychological services and tests to victims affected by traumatic brain injury both in Europe and Africa. I have also been able to interact with patients, writing their behavior summary during scrutinization process. Additionally, this venue gave me a chance to discuss patients' status with other licensed neuropsychologist and other health professionals. Thereby learning so many things that my line of work entails. I have worked with Amara Puts Kids first organization in Tacoma, Washington as a child life intern. Amara is a foundation that is working to make certain that every child in advance care has access to support and love of a devoted family.
I learned to plan and implement developmentally suitable undertakings outlined to be, therapeutic, educational and entertaining for children transforming to advance care. I promoted coping skills development and self-expressive activities and gave stress point support and preparation. Additionally, I provided on-going emotional, educational and psychosocial support serving as a role model. One of the salient life situations that motivated me was when I was in Kenya for two years offering aid to abused mothers and orphanages between the year 2014 and 2016. It was a wake-up call to enroll in programs that would improve my English language skills and to advance my capabilities in problem-solving and reasoning skills.
Having begun my contribution to the mission of the Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in the year 2018 where I worked as a Research Coordinator, I was able to help develop research questions, do surveys, developing protocol, and writing literature reviews. The experience I obtained at Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic has helped me in establishing the basis of my research skills. Additionally, I have been able to secure a chance of being a Course Assistant for graduate and undergraduate research methods courses at Arizona State University. The opportunity enabled me to counsel students as I grow my knowledge and skills regarding research design, methodology, and statistical significance.
There are quite consequential work experiences I have gained working at Traumatic Brain Injury clinic at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. The clinic has availed to me a humble opportunity to determine the level of assistance required by military society: from the active-duty workers to their family members. The definitions, words, and diagnoses are humanized, this enables a person to connect the dots and assess both the micro and macro consequences of trauma in both a physical and emotional perspective. My career ambition of becoming a neuropsychologist, understanding the connection between the physical brain and human behavior will enable me provides care, evaluating and providing treatment for patients with diverse nervous system disorders. It will be my main objective to champion for patients struggling to be respected and heard within the society. Additionally, I will be able to manage their therapy with concern, understanding, and attention to give them comprehensive care. My optimum professional ambition is to work with mental health patients in destitute societies, where constraints hindering sufficient healthcare are worsened by financial problems.
