Many aspects play an important role in the formation of a fully functional society. One of these aspects is the relationship that exists between different people. A romantic relationship is an example of relationships many people found themselves in or they long to be in one. When people get into romantic relationships, there are various roles that each one of them has to undertake. As a result, this issue has led to gender stereotypes in a relationship whereby certain roles are believed to specifically for men and others for women. The presence of these stereotypes calls for immediate action to change as well as change them so that people can have a healthy relationship. One of the ways that can be used to combat gender stereotypes in a relationship is that partners in romantic relationships should ensure that each one of them is free to perform any role (Miller, Eagly & Linn, 2015). This measure will ensure that there is no boundary regarding anything that a person can do. Therefore, a woman can do what a man can do and vice versa.

The second method that can be used to challenge gender stereotypes in a romantic relationship is that partners should talk to each other to prevent one from feeling vulnerable. For example, many people believe that there are certain roles such as washing which are meant for men and others for women (Ragins & Winkel, 2011). Therefore, when men found themselves undertaking the roles that are meant for women, most of them tend to feel vulnerable. In this, their female partners can talk to them so that they cannot feel vulnerable about doing any role that is not meant for them.

The third approach that can be used to challenge gender stereotypes is that partners should learn to embrace non-traditional gender roles. Traditional gender roles have been completely overhauled by the civilization which has taken place in recent years. As a result, the presence of non-traditional gender roles has led to marital problems in many romantic relationships. These problems have occurred in these romantic relationships because they believe that they are not supposed to carry out certain roles. For example, many men fear that if their female partners embrace non -traditional gender role, they may have more strength over them. Due to this issue, most of these men seek divorce. In such cases, the best solution is that both partners in the relationship should embrace the nontraditional gender so that they can help each other and become a happy couple.

Conclusion

Concluding, it is evident that romantic relationship is the most common form of relationship that is present in the society. Many people found themselves in these romantic relations. While in these relationships, there are certain roles that have to be performed for everything to move in the right direction. Most of these roles are believed to be gender based in that there are those that should be done by men and others women. This issue has led to gender stereotyping within the society whereby one gender feels that they are not entitled to do what is meant for the other party. Since this problems is destroying a lot of romantic relationships in the society, it is important that it should be dealt with. Therefore, proper measure should be embraced to ensure that gender stereotyping in romantic relationship is removed.
