Introduction
What do you think is worthy of being recognized as an American citizen? Do you think that being born and raised in America is worthy the only proof to be a citizen? Therefore becoming an American is a different scenario beyond what we all know and is more than just citizenship. Thus in this paper, different contents have been captured to explain the situation of 'what makes someone an American' in a complete form. Therefore the paper is concerned with other ways to be an American other than just citizenship where it analyzes different reasoning such as characteristics, personality traits, accomplishments, choices, and experiences.
In becoming an American, the experience of a person determines a lot. Experience, therefore, is concerned with how one is familiar with the doctrines of America. Generally, Americans from experience believed in the power of hard work which they all say leads to success. Therefore these past experiences are all over adopted and generally, anyone who believes in such is considered to be American. Thus, the concept of past experiences sets a common ground typically for all citizens in America, and so everyone basing on them is of America.
The second way that brings out a clear concept of what makes someone an American is the characteristics of a person. Americans always have those characteristics that usually differentiate them from others; for example, the features such as most Americans think they are independent. They also tend to be so innovative where they mostly try to find new ideas and changes. Therefore any person living and working in America develops such characteristics; they will make him an American. Sharing of such traits is ample proof to recognize some as an American.
The other consideration is personality traits. Americans are known to possess some unique personality traits which define them. For example, most of the Americans are characterized by honesty, which is a personality trait that makes them transparent and accountable. Most of Americans usually love what they do, and they engage in their activities with a greater passion for doing the best. Such personality traits can make one gain the identity to be an American. The possession of these traits enables one to fit into the culture and the ways Americans perceive and handle things.
Also, the accomplishment of some activities one engages in makes is enough to make one an American. The American always have that urge to do what they love and do it to completion. Therefore to accomplish what someone is doing is the primary motivating factor that most of the Americans based on when engaging in activities. Hence, when a non-American posse such spirit of doing something to completion, the person will be in a position to be identified as an American. Furthermore, the choices one makes will make the person an American. All Americans are believed to be rational human beings who like making choices. For example, most of them when it comes to buying commodities, they always choose among the different varieties before they decide on which is right for them to consume. These choices are widely applied in their daily living but not only buying of goods. Therefore, an individual can be easily an American based on his habit of options.
Conclusion
In conclusion, being an American is not entirely relying on citizenship. There are many ways of being an American just basing on how one is identified with similar observations with the American citizens. Therefore there is a need to identify all these observations in a person which will help to recognize a person as an American
