Atlanta is one of the most famous cities in the United States. According to the 2018 population census, the city has a total of 498,044 people. Sound economic and cultural hubs have attracted a large number of people who move in the region. According to the article, "U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts: Atlanta City, Georgia," 45 percent of the total population lives in the town. As such, the city has a population density of 630 people per square mile. Since the year 2000, the community has grown at a high rate, 2.92 percent. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city is the 6th fastest growing region since 2012. The population growth rate has become a critical aspect which facilitated the rise of social issues in the city. For instance, the increase in population has increased the rate of unemployment. As such, unemployment has forced more youths to engage in crime in the city (Ambinakudige 137).

The city of Atlanta is made of diverse ethnicity groups. Ambinakudige (132) stated that 52.3 percent of people in the region are African Americans, Whites are 40 percent, Asian are 4 percent, and Hispanic makes 4 Percent. 2.2 percent of the city's population shares races. This sharing has been facilitated by the rise of intermarriage among different groups in the city. As such, Atlanta is the 4th largest city with the highest number of black in the country. This unequal distribution of race has stimulated the rise of social discrimination. Due to a low number of a particular group, there is a high chance that they may face discrimination in receiving services.

The article, "U.S. Census Bureau Quick Facts: Atlanta City, Georgia" indicates that the household income (2017) in the city was $51,701. The household income has dramatically changed due to the rise in products price in the city. In which, per capita income in the past twelve months was $40,595. In the city, 22.4 percent of residents live below the poverty line (Ambinakudige 138). This percentage of poverty is caused by the high rate of population increase in the city and low employment rate. Since 2008, the city has shown a decline in income level. The reduction in income rate has subjected more people to poverty. The high living condition makes low incoming families strive to cater to their needs.

Thoughts about the Demographic Information

In society, the population is a critical aspect that affects how activities are done. Usually, an increase in population creates more barriers which hinder development in a city. The high materials cause this demand rate in the region. For instance, an increase in population minimizes the rate of capital formation due to low productivity. High society reduces the labor force in an area, which causes a reduction in capital per head (Ambinakudige 135).

For many years, many regions in America have been affected by racial discrimination. This issue has been caused by the rise of ethnic inequality in these areas. Therefore, the variation in ethnic groups may trigger social discrimination, especially on minority groups. Low-income rate increases the poverty in the city. Low-incomes forces families to move to a second area.

In most cases, these areas are characterized by poor houses, poor health standard, insecurity, and much more. Therefore, low income causes residents to live in the regions which poor standards such as slums. Education is another essential factor which is profoundly affected by population and low-income family. In this case, low-income forces parents to take their children to schools which are characterized by inadequate resources (Ambinakudige 141). As such, children are not able to access quality education which may improve their life.
