Trench propaganda is a term used to explain those soldiers who were targeted by propaganda. They included soldiers on both sides of the trenches and the enemy's minorities during World War 1 (Demm 2). The propaganda attempted to the influence of war culture, coercion, and brutal oppression that made the soldiers hide in trenches as there were minimal chances of escaping (Demm 20).

The Committee on Public Information (CPI) was an autonomous organization of the United States federal government that was established to inspire public opinion through print media in support of the U.S. soldiers who were participating in the World War 1 (Fischer 54). Its advanced application of printed ad spoke a word, graphic images in poster and motion image presentations assisted in steering a new phase of truly professional propaganda in America (Fischer 55-56). It trampled the First Amendment rights through invoking fear to the Germans through war propaganda (Neumann np).
