However, there are many factors to consider first, is it the right move for the nation, or is it just a desperate decision to fight Trump politically. The U.S has had several impeachments, including those of Johnston, Nixon, and Clinton. Johnston got impeached because he went against the "Tenure of Office" Act by illegally dismissing a cabinet chief. By dismissing the worker, he went against the provisions of the constitution, and he signed his impeachment. The congress spearheaded Nixon's impeachment plan, but he resigned before the process in august 9th 1974 (Ellis, 2017). The house of judiciary committee approved three articles that were to be used to push the impeachment. The first charge was about obstructing the investigation of a "Watergate" burglary (Ellis, 2017). The second was about, misuse of intelligence agencies and law enforcement groups for political purposes. The third was on the inability to comply with the judiciary committee's subpoenas. After President Nixon decided to resign voluntarily, the house agreed to effect the judiciary committee's report proceeding to impeachment. The house pushed president Clinton's impeachment, but he got exonerated by the Senate. The house relied on two articles to pass Clinton's judgment. The first was about Clinton sexually harassing an intern and covering up the issue (Ellis, 2017). The second was about the president's act of obstructing justice, including the civil lawsuit and the grand justice proceedings. Despite the efforts from the Senate, Clinton got finally impeached.

In federalist paper 65, Alexander Hamilton warns Americans on the negative consequences that come along with the impeachment process (Hamilton et al., 2020). America should not fall into the pitfall of advocating for Trump's impeachment. They should consider the consequences of the actions before they take them. Impeachment brings disgrace to the public; impeachment brings all the state affairs into the public's limelight (Klein, 2019). The process will not only affect the president, but it will also trickle down to the rest of the citizens. The impeachment will affect the American public more than the president. Impeachment reveals that America cannot contain its political matters within the Senate, and that creates a bad image in the public's view.

America will be conducting the next elections in 2020; impeachment may politically affect the election decisions (Klein, 2019). The Senate is reluctant to engage in political matters and decide on the judgment because it does not want to interfere with the voters' choices. Impeaching Trump now will be influencing his political powers, and that is not the agenda of impeachment. At the moment, the Senate is not in a good position to impeach Trump. Impeachment sends a message to the foreign nations; in case the process goes through a foreign nation may be interested in participating in America's elections and that risks the U.S. engaging in America's affairs would be like trading the nation's secrets to the foreigners. The third parties would pretend to help, but they will gain in the process. Ukraine's association with Trump had some targets; Ukraine was supposed to gain in terms of military support and Trump's partnership (Klein, 2019). If foreign nations participate in American affairs, then they would want to gain something in return. Dividing as a nation also sends a message of weakness; America is seen as a fragile country. Impeachment exposes America's problems to foreign nations, and it is not the right time to get divided.

This paper feels that it is not the right time to proceed with the action. It is not the right time for American politicians to show the world and the public how they are divided. America is approaching the 2020 elections; it is high time the politicians unite all the citizens and allow them to make the right democratic choices. Impeachment sends a message to other nations in the world on the weaknesses of America. It is high time Americans unite and try to find out solutions without having to expose their problems out.
