Despite the church playing a significant role in the government, the church has many tasks to perform in the community and other special functions occurring in society. The significant social roles played by the church include explaining the unknown concepts existing in the nation that science cannot tell (Welker et al., 2017). The existence of life and death and their origin cannot be explained by science. Therefore, religion has a lot of impact on providing the answers to these questions, which also helps to avoid depression and other worries arising from the same mysteries. Through the life and death of Jesus, there is the hope of resurrection instilled in the society. Therefore, people acknowledge the reality of death, and this is critical in the mourning process since people who believe in life after death will easily be comforted with the hope of meeting their loved ones in eternity. Medically, this is very significant to the patient receiving end-of-life care. This period is accompanied by a lot of questions and worries to both the patients and their families.

The church is also very essential in creating cohesion in society. Due to the same beliefs and doctrines, people in a community believe that through believing in Jesus, they become children of God. Therefore, the church enhances unity and oneness in the community as people who believe in the same God are expected to live in peace and harmony (Baron, 2017). Church strongly condemns hatred and evil; therefore, communities under the influence of the church are well adopted into living in peace and harmony and more likely to take care of each other. Furthermore, religious leaders are also a symbol of unity in society due to their strong influence. Solving disputes and other shortcomings in the community has migrated from political leaders, and now religious leaders are also actively participating in the same. Believers attending the same church are not likely to quarrel because their church leaders unite them.

The church has a very significant impact on the behaviors in a society. Social control is another essential role of the church in society. The church condemns evils behavior in society, and this is essential in the community. Poor social practices such as witchcraft and prostitution are much condemned in the bible, and a city with a strong influence of the church is likely to report very few cases of behavioral misconduct (Baron, 2017). More so, the church has been at the forefront of the war to eradicate poor cultural practices. The church strongly condemns cultures such as wife inheritance, FGM, and polygamy, and this has led to a significant reduction in these cases in society. The church has controlled youths with a lot of behavioral misconduct through the teens' engagement in religious activities.

More so, acknowledge of religion into psychology has also aided in the psychological therapies in society. The involvement of the church in guiding and counseling sessions has provided quick solutions to existing societal challenges. In schools, hospitals, and families, the church has played a crucial role in aiding these processes. In dealing with individuals at the point of giving up on life, bible verses and other religious quotations can help provide remedies for these non-medical conditions (Baron, 2017). More so, depression among believers is very negligible since religion offers hope and the urge to overcome challenges and other situations in life with the belief that it is the will of God. Having confidence that God is in charge of all conditions gives room for relaxation, which helps avoid depression.

Social action involves an impact that takes into account the behavior and reactions of individuals. More so, Max Weber believes that work is social only when it acknowledges the impact on other people and thereby influenced by it (Smit, 2017). Social action entails activities that people in the community come together and do in unison to improve their lives. More so, social work also involves various entities in the communities coming together to facilitate change and reform while addressing the critical challenges affecting them in society. Social action focuses on creating positive improvements, both locally and nationally. Since a country is likely to face similar challenges that will affect the many existing communities within the same country, all the shareholders must unite and create long-lasting solutions that will improve the quality of life across the country and, hence, benefit all the people.

The church has a lot of impact on the social activities taking place within the society and the country at large. Christ was always very concerned with the welfare of the people around him. Jesus was ready to heal, provide food, and offer any necessary assistance required in his vicinity. Therefore, the church should take up the responsibility of addressing the societal challenges by providing relevant solutions to their needs, whether temporarily or permanently, as Christ would do during his missions (Smit, 2017). The church has played an essential role by cooperating with other organizations to provide a remedy and help society. For instance, in this era, the church has been an important platform to pass information about relevant issues addressing the community. Furthermore, other leaders have also been given access to address congregants during church services, which has been fundamental in creating awareness of important aspects of the community.

More so, religious leaders have also been acknowledged in government forums and are also allowed to pray and preach, and this has increased program acceptance within the society. When religious leaders back up the program, and this has helped in sensitive applications such as vaccination and healthcare services delivery in the community (Smit, 2017). More so, political leaders have been fundamental in funding church programs such as constructions and other church-related activities such as providing relief foods and other disaster management activities of the church. On the other hand, the church has played a crucial role in society by giving vital facilities that lack culture.

The church has taken up a lot of responsibility in building schools within the society, enhancing access to education. The construction of schools has significantly increased the number of children accessing quality education, which is fundamental to society. Churches are also sponsoring a lot of children, which has enabled children from poor backgrounds to access quality education (Molokotos-Liederman, 2016). Moreover, the building of learning centers has significantly reduced fees, allowing many children from various economic backgrounds to learn services. Many schools funded by the church also received religious services from the church through routine guidance and counseling to keep the students on track. Furthermore, government funding to these schools has been essential to provide resources required for learning, such as donations of books and other stationeries.

The church has funded other essential facilities such as hospitals, morgues, and children's homes, and these facilities have been helpful to society. More so, the church has mobilized people on acceptance of specific sensitive medical acre that people are reluctant to take in the community. Furthermore, since believers have faith in the divine healing and miracles, the church has had a series of educating the masses that God can still perform miracles through doctors and scientific medicines. This has significantly reduced suffering among believers (Molokotos-Liederman, 2016). Donating medical facilities in various health facilities has been an essential activity that the clergy plays in enhancing better healthcare in society. Free medical camps and medical campaigns have been another fundamental role played by the church. Providing essential drugs and promoting community-based health care has improved accessibility to both emergency and maternity health services.

Natural calamities and disasters are always associated with a lot of suffering and losses. The provision of essential services to disaster-stricken areas is another necessary activity played by the church to help the society. Contributing relief food and donation of basic requirements to vulnerable communities is a very fundamental role played by the church (Molokotos-Liederman, 2016). Accommodating of refuges from disaster-stricken areas has given the government adequate time to plan for relocating these people. More so, medical camps can still be situated in the proximity of churches, and this allows people to come and access emergency medical and first aid services whenever a calamity strike. Many churches also shelter displaced individuals, and this reduces the cases of overpopulation due to lack of shelter.

Additionally, churches have risen to be vital institutions in the government. A lot of government activities recognize these essential religious groups and offer them equal chances at these functions. With the freedom of worship, people are free to worship whichever day they wish, and this has been very instrumental in aiding the adoption of Christianity as a religion in many countries. Furthermore, freedom of worship has also led to the approval of religious education in schools, and this is very important in behavior control in society (Molokotos-Liederman, 2016). More so, many judicial systems acknowledge religion in their daily activities, and this has promoted national unity since people from various religious groups are equally served regardless of belief. The government also respects many religious doctrines, which is fundamental since no one will be indiscriminate against their religion. Furthermore, acknowledgment of freedom of worship as a human right, allows all individuals to access places of worship without much interference from the government.

Conclusin

In conclusion, as a social institution, the church has a lot of roles to play in society. Even though various doctrines are not in line with the church being in active participation with the government, it is wise to reconsider that cooperation between the church and the government is beneficial. However, a lot of corruption scandals were associated with many political systems, and the church wishes to stay outside the government's excess influence. However, the church's independence is also crucial since it makes the church immune from the negative impact of society. More so, the church should always be ready to participate in social activities since participation in the community activities produces excellent results as many people will accept the church services. It is also clear that Jesus Christ took part in many community functions, including the wedding at Cana, and he was instrumental.
