Introduction
Mental approach is an illustration of some domain as well situation that backs reasoning, understanding as well as expectations. The theory allows for the reasoning of situations but with no much experience, hence they allow individuals to mentally trigger the behavior of a person. Many mental approaches are built on generalizations as well as analogies from capability. These simplifications are always not accurate since scholars have recognized striking circumstances of widespread untrue mental models. By typically understanding this theory on both the correct as well as incorrect perspective is crucial because they will assist in designing devices that individuals will use properly and also create an instructional material that is effective(Tzu, 2010). For this reason, the book Art of War by Sun Tzu's, he says that rules have been of importance in enhancing changes in individuals' thinking? His structure "primes" the acknowledgment is making the required right decisions. Therefore, Sun Tzu's system combines a mental approach for position awareness as well as advance positioning with a given situational response. They can also use this method for rational analysis to assist in nurturing leaders on how they can make the best decisions during a situation in an organization.
With this theory of mental approach, we realize that Sun Tzu is illustrating to leaders on how they should make their decisions in an organization during difficult times that can lead to the collapse of the organization. Every step the leaders take is very crucial since they have the capability to make a right as well wrong decision that brings a change. They are supposed to reason out properly in every decision they take since they are the drivers of the organization or an institution.
Shortcomings of the model
1. The leaders can come up with a wrong decision
With the employees of an organization having much respect for their leaders since they are the ones who are controlling the affairs of the companies, they can make the company employees support as well as agree to any of the plans plus actions they want to enforce. Since they have the power above all the employees in the firm they can enforce harsh as well as abrupt decisions out of their emotions which can be cause harm to the people working in the firms. Some even use their powers wrongly by enforcing a decision that most of the workers in the firms are against since the disputed decision favors them. With this model of Sun Tzu, he says that the leaders should reason properly before deciding on any issue.
2. Their influences can backfire
The leaders have the motor skills and also they are visionary. They have the charm to lure people into coming up with changes as well as following objectives as a one-party. They can motivate individuals to convert and believe in what they decide on or a specific idea. Though it can be important in achieving aims easily with minimum objections which can have a negative effect if the leader is self-serving.
3. Prioritization
When it reaches the point in which the leaders encourage its members, they tend to be only coaching the members of their own choice. This becomes problematic since the needs of all the organizational members are not met and priority issued to the preferred people.
4. It Requires Strong Leadership and a Stable Organization
With a good leader who understand the issues that affects an organization, he can use this model to make his decisions so as to solve the problems but when he makes poor decisions the organization will collapse, therefore which ever decision he decides has to be good.
Conclusion
In conclusion, with the power that the leaders have in an organization, they can use it wrongly by forcing individuals in the organization to abide by the decisions that favor's them not knowing that most of the members are opposing his or her decision. An instance is in a school; the principal enacts rules that favor the students but not the teachers because there is a difficult situation that might lead to his demotion like students striking every time. The decision will be of importance to him but not the teachers hence these teachers might decide not to be serious with their teachings leading to poor performance. Hence the situation becomes worse.
