Introduction
In every business, management is considered as the thing that ought to be done to ensure that things keep afloat. For the company to grow and achieve the mission and vision, the manager should possess individual skills. Some of the necessary skills that a manager should have include:
Integrity
A manager should not do the right thing because he or she is being seen; they should do it because it is the right thing (Xing et al, 2016). Managers are the leaders in an organization and should lead by example since most of them are the role model of the employees.
Team building
Managers are expected to select the right people for their organization regardless of gender or ethnicity. A good leader should come up with the best workforce. They do not bring personal indifferences in the workplace and strictly adhere to the organization culture.
Communication
For the employees to offer the best services to the organization, the managers need to communicate their goals to them. They should ensure that the mission and vision of the organization are well described, and the employees understand what is expected of them. When the employees understand the goals, clearly they will keep themselves engaged which is a positive impact on the organization
Good in decision making
Every organization has problems that arise and need to be addressed. The managers are expected to solve the problem by choosing the best decision. They are expected to make the right decisions and quickly. The above are the necessary qualities that a manager should have. They also have traits such as collaboration, listening, and flexibility.
Communication and leadership
In a way, communication is complicated. Leaders of every organization need to come up with the best ways to communicate with the employees. Without communication, no activity in the organization would be valid. It should be noted that communication is a core leadership function. Good leaders are also said to be good communicators. The managers need to be skilled communicators to the employees, communities, and at times on a global scale.
Factors which impact on the selection of communication techniques
There are several factors that should be observed before selecting the communication technique to be used in an organization. Communication is one of the values that are essential in every business. Also, the technique used to communicate with the employees determines or influences employees' productivity (Anthony et al., 2017).
The first factor that a leader should observe while communicating is being sincere and honest. Let the employees know if there is something they should be worried about or celebrate. Do not keep all the organization's worries to yourself. However, this will also be determined by the leadership style. If the form is autocratic, then the manager does not have a choice to solve the issues alone.
Secondly, communicate referring to the vision and mission statements. The mission and the vision statements help in ensuring that the employees understand the goal that they are working hard to achieve. With that, it will be more comfortable and also will make communication to be effective. Communication and leadership are closely related since no organization can be run without communicating.
Effective leadership behaviors
Successful managers are those who define and enhance positive contributions to the organization. They share common leadership behaviors that are common in all organizations, irrespective of the size and type of activities being carried out. There are certain leadership behaviors that managers in an organization should have.
Have a vision and strategies on how to accomplish it
It is the role of the manager to ensure that the subordinates under him to not only know that there is a vision but also to understand it clearly (Larsson et al., 2019). The managers need to continuously keep reminding the team of employees what the goal is and what they need to do to achieve it.
Appreciating and recognizes those who achieve
Employees feel motivated once they notice that the management welcomes those that work hard and show positive change. Active managers understand that their attention, time and genuine appreciation is essential for the employees to achieve their vision. Managers should treat their staff members like valued individuals and not units of production.
Walk the walk
The best leadership behavior is doing what you say. Managers should lead by example and show the employees that integrity is the best value that should be embraced.
All the stated factors and behaviors consist of the issues that should be considered in a manager's profile.
