Leadership is intended to offer the right direction to people or a firm and its employees. It is relevant for personnel to know the direction the company is headed to and the people to follow to arrive at the destination. Leadership constitutes showing workers how to perform efficiently in their responsibilities and overseeing the accomplishment of their errands recurrently. There is also the element of setting a positive example for workers to follow by being excited about the work and motivated to acquire new knowledge (Shriberg & Shriberg, 2010). A reflection of the definition of leadership is relevant as well as an analysis of the way the leadership approach or style alters what has been acquired.
Currently, the definition of leadership entails bringing change to people through inspiration and providing the right guidance. Also, it involves setting challenging goals, making crucial but efficient decisions when required, and then being able to overtake the competition. Leadership may further be viewed as the capability to solve complications assertively and rapidly. Therefore, the description of leadership is in line with the preferred leadership style. However, certain factors will be incorporated into the definition of leadership to be in line with the leadership style.
The leadership style, in this case, is one where leaders and their followers uplift each other to attain high morality and motivation levels. As such, the leader, in this case, establishes clear goals and is an ideal of equality and reliability. The leader also encourages others and offers the required recognition and support for the subordinates to attain the established goals and objectives. It is also relevant for the leader to stimulate the sentiments of individuals and get people to observe outside their self-centeredness. Inspiring people to reach for the impracticable is also fundamental for the leader in this case (Walker & Dobbs, 2019).
Based on the elements of the leadership style described, the leadership approach will be slightly altered. One of the ways is by ensuring that people are motivated to accept and deliver the visions of the organization. In this case, the leadership will have to appeal to the values of people and inspire them with where they are being lead to as well as the reasons (Busch, 2014). As such, encouraging people will be quite crucial since it is what will bring the desired change and attainment of the vision set. The leadership will also be adjusted to ensure that there is the development of strong relationships with the people, which is also founded on trust. It will be vital to concentrate on the people and work to enable them to attain their dreams and goals. A leader can develop confidence with his or her people by being honest and open during their interactions. The leadership should also partake in assisting people in finding their solutions and, in this way, will result in the creation of a skilled team. Besides, their self-confidence and trust in the leader will be reinforced (Walker & Dobbs, 2019).
Therefore, it will be relevant for the leadership to strive towards ensuring the people are comfortable and able to focus on their work while at the same time, providing all the necessary resources and motivating them as well. One crucial aspect of the leadership style is where it points out the element of developing trust with people. As such, the leadership will be adjusted to ensure that it accommodates everyone and builds their confidence. In this way, the leadership will achieve more than it had set as its goals or visions. A leadership that assists people means that it wants them to attain more than their capabilities (Busch, 2014). Hence, the leadership will be adjusted to ensure that it listens to the needs of the people and responds effectively.
The definition of leadership has been analyzed and the way the current style can be adjusted to suit what has been learned. It has been observed that leadership will be aligned to ensure people are motivated and further develop their confidence. Also, the leadership will be altered to ensure that strong associations with the people have been established.
