Introduction

My knowledge in interpersonal, verbal, and written communication has enabled communication with ease. It has also strengthened the relationship with those i worked around at Prince of Wales hospital during my clinical placement. The skills have enabled me to use the language as a powerful tool in the workplace I have worked in to interact effectively with others. The soft skill is reading, writing, and speaking, which have enabled me to share valuable information, ideas, and feelings between me and my workmates, patients, and my supervisors. Apart from communication towards others, I have through the years learned to develop and sharpen my interpersonal communication skills, which mostly affect quality service, especially when dealing with a minority group. For instance, the information I intend to pass across may be apparent to me but not to the patient I am addressing. I ignore the view of the person I am speaking to, my relationship with them is likely to deteriorate. Therefore I maybe encounter a misunderstanding and weak relationship with the patients.

Demonstrated Clinical Knowledge and Clinical-Problem Solving Abilities

During my working period as a clinical placed nurse, I have been called upon to fully demonstrate my highest level of clinical knowledge and problem-solving skills in my workplace, especially my placement at long bay Health center. My understanding of a patient's previous medication scheme prevented health complications when proposing a possible new treatment pattern. Also, knowing how particular drugs react towards different patients of different age groups was very vital since it worked as a guideline in the development of an appropriate medication choice.

In a complicated situation, I took the responsibility of undertaking research in-depth so as to prevent making a risky choice that would, in the long run, jeopardize the wellbeing of the patient. This problem solving clinical ability was also demonstrated by work jointly with my superiors in such a situation learning from their experience. This helped me to survive through the harsh challenges attached to the joy of being a clinical nurse.

Demonstrated Ability to Work within a Teamwork

I, as a clinical nurse, acknowledge the benefits of work with fellow colleagues, especially in busy and long working hours. In order to achieve a positive health outcome for all those patients that reached the places I recently worked as a nurse, I was at all times guided by the goals set by the organization whose central core values were teamwork. At any given circumstance, a nurse is required to join forces with their partners towards the common goal of ensuring the quality of health care is of the highest standard. This concept of the team extends to the sharing of the limited resources in the organization but ensuring that patient treatment is done at the fast speed as possible.

Knowledge of the Professional, Ethical and Legal Requirements

Since my enrolment in Nursing, I have developed interest and curiosity about what being a medically trained nurse really meant. My purpose of what was required of me in order to become a professionally accredited nurse remained clear from day one. This entailed following the set profession, ethical, and legal requirements by the board governing nurses in Australia. All my decisions and choices were shielded from an outside problem that often seems to disrupt my job as a trained nurse.

In my knowledge, I am required as a nurse to act according to developing the most appropriate practices, and following the set competency standards and code of conduct. Practices that lead to positive health outcomes were those done from the knowledge of what was required from me professionally, legally, and ethically. For instance, a trained nurse is expected to react to a patient's need despite the time and condition. Also, we are required to treat all patients equally without bringing in biased behaviors.

Understanding of Role, in Applying Continuous Improvement of Quality and Safety

Quality and safety improvement measures are used in all organizations providing health services to improve the services being issued to the patients. Some measures in this category include wise leadership, employee motivation, practicing safe work practices. The primary duty of a registered nurse in ensuring quality improvement is to adhere and engage in hygienic behaviors, safe handling of patients, and fellow colleagues. My role in the context of quality improvement is to identify weaknesses and find better ways to improve them.

Understanding of the NSW Core Values-Collaboration, Openness, Respect, and Empowerment

Profession collaboration with other helping services is necessary to ensure that the recovery process of the patients speeds up. Frequent follow-ups, advising where there are need and service sharing is highly recommended. Trust, which is having confidence in supervisors and working team, encourages openness and cooperation to appreciate the difference in all patients. A defined out confidence between nurses, patients, and their supervisors preserve the integrity of care, hence improvement in the quality of services.

Also, respecting both patients and teammates recognizes the different preferences and needs each patient is entitled to without any bias. My role as a nurse is to appreciate their rights and their choice of lifestyle and be open to provide all forms of treatment options without hesitation.

A nurse is entitled to empower fellow nurses and other staff in the organization towards a common goal. Coming together is, without a doubt, a big step in success.
