The chosen movie is Love Jones written by Theodore Witcher which was set in Chicago's middle-class black professionals and artists. The video depicts and follows numerous romantic complications between a photographer named Nina Mosley and a young black poet named Darius Lovehall. Almost all the sections of the film comprised of the two black folks who are wavering forth and back whether their feelings are truly loved or lust (Witcher, 1997).
The female relationship is among the central themes depicted in the film, and the case occurs between Josie and Nina. Nina is among the major characters in the film and Josie is showcased as her best friend. A scene in which their friendship was shown was a case where Nina and Josie were riding in a cab and Josie got upset with Nina when she discovered that Nina had made out with Darius on the first night they spent together. Moreover, the hurry in which they two made love did not bother Josie but was only upset that Nina never disclosed to her. Thus, the instance is a direct correlation to the theme of women's friendship where intimacy is often cultivated through dialogues (Witcher, 1997). The action suggests that in most cases, women build closeness in their relationships or friendships dialogue and by Nina keeping it a secret, the code of intimacy is broken in a way. Nevertheless, the creation of a new relationship which was a significant part of the life of Nina through excluding Josie kept on troubling her (Witcher, 1997).
On the other hand, Love Jones did not seek to ascribe fault or blame regarding one gender or the other. It never portrayed black men or women as enemies. However, the inability of wishing to understand and love one another is always the action keeping people apart and holding them back. Thus, if Nina and Darius had acknowledged and were honest on having genuine feelings and emotions, they would not have attempted to play particular games (often found in the books of relationships) to ascertain a perfect relationship. Also, had Darius not have driven by his ego and told Nina to decline to go to New York City as well as Nina not becoming stubborn by waiting to call Darius upon her return, maybe they would have escaped the numerous complications in their relationship (Witcher, 1997).
The depicted actions relate to issues or concepts of romantic relationships such that most people often fall in love with the other based mostly on physical attraction. The physical appeal of Darius made Nina cheat on Josie and end up making love to Darius without the conscience of Josie. The action makes the film to varying from others as it gives a compelling depiction of the lives of black people that is always not saddled with the cultural stereotypes that are tired as well as the black pathology (Bradburry, & Karney, 2004). Also, the film also showcases the principal barrier to most consummating relationships is often mustering the courage to say that you love the other person. It takes one a lot of effort to sustain a tie as the fantasies of happily ever after often lack the tedious, difficult elements which are required in people's daily lives as well as figuring out the way of reconciliation. Thus, any obstacle to the romantic fulfillment, however surmountable it may be, is always not worth the effort required to overcome it. Both Nina and Darius take the faith leaps in getting what they want professionally and personally (Bradburry, & Karney, 2004).
