Introduction
The desire for tourist to visit Italy is deeply rooted in the countries culture more than the tourist attraction sites. The definition of culture may vary depending on people's perspectives. However, the most predominant tourist attraction culture in Italy is the Italian Cuisine. The presentation focuses on the different Italian delicacies and how they found their way into other countries, especially the United States of America. The content of the presentation is based on an interview with a retired Italian Chef.
Italian Cuisine
Many individuals in the world today prefer to have a taste of the original Italian dishes owing to their deep-rooted culture and traditional originality. Despite having an outstanding taste which is not common in many dishes, the original Italian meals utilize simple preparation methods and readily available ingredients. The best Italian foods are prepared by local chefs who are delightful in sharing their culture with others. Therefore, most tourists who visit Italy often want to have a share of their rich cultural dishes.
The love for Pizza and Pasta was the driving force that led to an interview with a retired Italian Chef to understand how the meals are prepared and what sets them apart from other similar dishes prepared by none Italian chefs. The interview intended to uncover the secret behind the unique Italian gastronomical art.
The secret behind the Italian Dishes lies in the intent of its preparation. While many chefs focus on preparing heavy meals to satisfy a person, Italian chefs focus on making an impact based on the quality of the meal. The Italian cooking styles focus on utilizing many indigenous flavours to enhance the quality of the delicacy. The food mostly consists of vegetables and small portions of proteins.Italian meals begin with antipasti, which generally consist of vegetables such as pepperoncini, artichoke hearts and mushroom, and cured meats like capicola. The meal is then followed by a small quantity of light proteins. The ingredients used in the preparation of the traditional dishes depends on the seasons. Italians are known for their preservation methods for food which includes canning meat, turning grapes into wine, among others.
Based on the interview, Italian Cuisine was first introduced in the United States by immigrants who settled in the shores of America. However, the traditional ingredients used in Italy were not available, and hence they had to improvise. Therefore, most Italian delicacy served in the United States and other countries lacks the original flavours used by Italian chefs in Italy.
Ms. Alessandra explained the secret behind the famous Italian pizza named Margherita. This type of pizza originates from Naples and is tasty yet very simple. The pizza is served with tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, basil, Parmesan cheese, and mozzarella in local cafeterias. There are other types of pizzas in Italy and around the world, like there are variations in pasta. Pasta depends on the side of Italy a person visits. In Rome, pasta alla carbona, which is prepared using Pecorino cheese, eggs, black pepper, and guanciale is the most common.
Based on the findings from the interview, the secret behind the Italian foods is the traditional elements in it. Despite the dynamic changes in ingredients and flavours, the Italians stills prefers to use their natural ingredients in food such as pizza and pasta, which makes it outstanding. The preparation method is simple and minimal efforts are required in their preparations.
