Religion is a strong belief about a particular thing. Religions are diverse in the world; there is Christianity, Islam. Hindu and Zoroastrian faiths. If people get asked which was the best religion to belong to, everyone would claim that their religions are the best. Religions beliefs are many, but there is only one creator, whom we dearly worship. All religions have different doctrines that should be followed during worship. Accepting others' faith would bring us together, but it isn't straightforward for us to recognize other principles. According to Gandhi, this how he has displayed his faith in personal life and political works
According to Gandhi, all religious beliefs are true and equal. How we accept our faith should be the same way; we accept other religious beliefs. It right that we worship one God, but every religion has a different name, which they refer to him. When we tolerate each other opinions, conflicts reduce? It is easier for people to embrace one faith without causing wars and conflicts. Many people want to prove that their religion is superior, while others are inferior. For example, Prof Krizenski is a philosopher who has studied many religions, but he believes that Catholicism is the only true religion (Gandhi Pg 3).
According to Gandhi, religions get equally based on their truth. Human beings are not as perfect as God, is the only being who is perfect. It should not hinder us from doing anything we aspire to do. God gives every religion in the world; therefore, we should be able to read other religious scriptures to understand their faith. If only we can do this, we could view every faith as equal (Gandhi Pg 4). It is hard to compare religions, but we should believe that they are all equal.
Gandhi belongs to Hinduism religion; it is a religion which he has known since his childhood. Hinduism is a religion with a strong foundation of truthfulness and no conflicts. Its main aim is to serve humanity (Gandhi, Pg9). Despite Gandhi being a Hindu, he does not disregard other religions. Hindu has taught him to accept other religions such as Christianity and Islam. The love of other faith has helped to know the scriptures of the gospel; for instance, he claims that there is no good reason as to why he should not praise Mohammad in Islam. Throughout his personal life, he has learned every religious belief, and he says, "he believes in all great prophets and saints of every religion" (Gandhi Pg22). Hinduism has taught him to be inclusive of other religions.
Religion has faced threats from the political class. For example, in India, there are: Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, and Christians; Christians are the minority group in India. The state wants to ensure that every religion has reached 75% membership to get a place to worship in India before that it will be closed down (Gandhi Pg 20). Christians are now happy about this declaration by the government. Everyone should be in a position to defend his religion since God has given us the beliefs to protect them and worship him (Gandhi Pg 20).
Conclusion
To sum up, there are many religions in the world with different ways of worshipping. What brings us together is that we worship one God. Faith has brought us together, despite our beliefs. Embracing our different principles would bring Christian, Muslim, and Hindus together. Gandhi has made it clear that our religious beliefs are the barriers that view other religions as unwanted; therefore, human beings should adopt every religious faith.
