Introduction
Evolution refers to how living things changes according to the outside influences and the habitat. The changes make the organism develop traits that positively impact their survival and reproduction. Collectively, the traits are called adaptive traits. Humans have been adapting to the changing conditions for as long as they have existed.
Connectedness
Currently, the need for more connectedness has forced humans to alter the physical environment through the creation of roads and faster railroads to enable them to move from one point to the next faster and safely (Stinson, 2009). To avoid the ever-changing weather patterns, humans have developed smart homes and smart cars that can detect the perfect condition for each and adjust automatically. Due to many natural disasters, causing massive loss, humans have created sensors that can help them identify potential hazards way before they occur to enable them to plan (Stinson, 2009). On the health aspect, humans have been exposed to various pandemics in their entire history, including influenza, that made the human increasingly aware of the dangers of the disease and the preventative measures that humans are using to tackle the COVID-19. Also, there are safer delivery methods, improved nutrition, and a robust field of medicine that is increasingly raising life expectancy (Massey, 2013).
Adaptive Traits
The current adaptive traits can only be termed as a drop in the ocean for what awaits the humans in the future. In the areas of health, there is a possibility that the aging issue will be solved by altering the tissues that cause aging. As such, the health conditions exposed to humans due to age will be avoided, tremendously improving life expectancy (Stecher, 2017). Through the same process of bioengineering and gene editing tools, humans will be able to control the genes, thus making them immune to diseases. The need for more space to house the increasing numbers will arise, and as such, the transportation will have improved to a point where commuting from one planet to the next will be a daily routine (Crew, 2018).
Conclusion
There is a possibility of more dynamic buildings, that are self-sustaining, solving the future energy crises. Improved technology such as nanotechnology will be developed to address the impending solar radiation, global warming and other natural issues within the planets that humans will need to live in.
