In the world that we live today, things have been made easier by technology. It has served many purposes in human life one of them being data storage. This function is important to people who were to keep their records safe from being damaged or getting lost. One of the people who benefit from this are the individuals who stay in severe hurricanes prone areas. These people can no longer worry about their important documents being damaged because they can easily store them in a computer database proposed by the United States government for safekeeping. Storing records in the database for those people have pros and cons.
This proposal is important because it will be easy to access the records. The stored information in the database will be easily accessed anytime a person requires it than when stored in homes. The person will simply type the name of the file needed form the database and the results will be delivered within seconds. The database can store a large number of records which will help most people in the affected areas. The database will keep these records save from damage and they can easily be retrieved in the future safely.
When the personal records are stored in the database as proposed by the US government, they will be secure. Most of the online sites are very secure they only require the user to use a password. They can be trusted to keep the information private and prevent it from being accessed by the world. Even if the system crashes the information will still be quickly recovered unlike when stored manually in homes. The database keeps the records more safe and secure which is very important to the affected people.
This proposal will be complex for most people. Although in this era most people in America can easily use a computer, the computerized database is complex applications, especially for older people. This proposed application required a lot of knowledge to create and access which will be a bit difficult for regular people. They also use specialized hardware and soft wares which can only be operated by a professional. This will be a complex work for the people compared to storing of records manually. Many people will be forced to hire professional help which is also extra work. Because of this complexity, some may even save their records incorrectly without realizing.
The government proposing the use of the database may incur the affected people extra costs. These peoples will not only need to purchase the database application and the hardware but they will also need to learn how to use it. Most of them will be forced to take training lessons or hire an instructor which will be a bit expensive. Much technical training nowadays requires an amount of money and time to learn. Most of these people are already employed while others are taking care of their family and they will find hard to allocate extra resources and time in this project.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the government proposal of keeping the personal records in the database has a great advantage to the people. They will no longer live in fear of losing their important document during the hurricane incidences. The information will be kept safe in the databases saving them money and time to search for other documents. For those who will feel that the databases are not secure, the government has made this process voluntary so no one will be forced to use it. Looking at the alternative, these people should choose this method because of better safe than sorry.
