The discussion questions the risks, benefits, and the practice itself (Penna & Arulkumaran, 2003). The practice of C-section has been on the rise, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) reports (Christilaw, 2006)). This practice is considered as safe despite reaching full dilatation. The reasons for elective C-section include fear of pain in labor, fear of fetal distress in work, convenience, and fear of future sexual dysfunction or pelvic prolapse.

Human beings have rights which they are entitled to; women have rights which govern them like the rest of human beings. They have the right to choose what they want to do with their bodies without being convinced with anyone (Ecker, 2013). The rights include the right to life and survival, which gives them the right not to be harmed. Secondly, the right to the highest standard of healthcare and protection and the right to information and education.

Concerning the health care coverage insurance for elective C-section are only given to wealthy unless if it is necessary. These celebrities tend to be favored and be given protection before attending to the practice (Shearer, 1993). The principle of ethics should be applied equally to all women who are in quest for elective C-section in the globe. The health risks of an elective C-section include lack of confidence in one's body, economic pressure, and cosmetic effects .the health benefit of elective C-section include sex life that is not dysfunctional.

In conclusion, the question of C-section by choice remains a debatable issue .the benefits and risks accompanied with this practice must be handled in light of reproductive rights .the decision made during the discussion before the act must have the goal of empowering women. The information given to women concerning the risks and benefits of C-section should be the best to facilitate proper decision making.
