The first time that I gathered interest in my professional hero is when I recently searched the internet for the world's best fashion editors. I noted that Anna Wintour was a name that was colloquially used in the fashion industry. I as well gained insights that one of my favorite films, "Devil Wears" had Anna Wintour as part of the main characters as it was based on her life's story. Fashion magazine editing has always been appealing to me because I love clothes and any typical thing about fashion. However, it is not all just about trending and eye-catching clothing and style, it is some of the achievements that people in the fashion industry make. The first thing that appealed to me about Anna Wintour is that she was an individual who was determined and motivated. Her actions and winnings depict that she knows her direction as well as who she is. This paper seeks to clearly elaborate, some of the hallmarks in Anna Wintour's career that demonstrate, that she has achieved some of the hallmarks learning goals, based on her skills, background training as well as crucial innovations.
Fashion editors are individuals who determine how the outlook of a fashion publication magazine. They are the ones who choose the pictures, tones as well as the general content that is incorporated in the magazines. A majority of the fashion editors have a background in the fashion world as well as skills in writing and editorial training. In most cases, a university or at least a college degree is a requirement, with preferable majors in journalism, communication, fashion merchandising and fashion design. The other essential elements are a passion for fashion and excellent writing skills.
According to my research, Anna Wintour depicts a spirit of motivation and a type of attitude that indicates that she is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve her goals. She is a big name in the industry, and she is recognized as the editor-in-chief of the New York Times Magazine, and there is a probability that she is the most influential in the fashion world since the 'The New York Times, Vogue' is the most influential magazine worldwide (Kloeppel). It appears like Wintour never had doubt in her goals, and never perceived that her objectives were unachievable. This was something that the fashion career needed since it involves a lot of competition, and hence outstanding work to be recognized as the editor of such a popular magazine. She chose to work her various fashion magazines and upscaled her career to be the top editor at every magazine until she got to be the world's best editor-in-chief at Vogue.
Anna Wintour seems to be responsible and highly engaged in gaining more skills even though she seems to be at the top of her career. In one of her interviews with CBS news, Wintour states that "to be involved has to mean something..., and you have to remain true to yourself and listen to your instincts and follow what you believe in ("Anna Wintour: "To Be In Vogue Has To Mean Something") . When Wintour took over the Vogue magazine editor-in-chief career, she sought to bring change in the whole company by introducing a new style for the cover. Even though her ideas were radicalized, Wintour stood for them and launched a well new way of doing covers for Vogue magazine so that they could not look the same. This indicates that Wintour was ready to stand for what she believed in and would do had excellent skills in her career. According to the New York Times Magazine, Ms. Wintour is described as having exercised both the obvious and the unseen power for an extended period that it would be hard to parse her impact in the fashion world (Friedman).
I admire the skill and lasting professionalism that Anna Wintour posses and would like to incorporate that in my career. It is indicated that she has placed Vogue magazine within the fashion industry's commercial heart, and during her 25-year-old tenure at Vogue magazine, she has been able to spearhead several changes at Vogue that made it be at the forefront ("Anna Wintour is One Of The 500 People Shaping the Global Fashion Industry"). In most of her interviews, she always portrays herself as an outstanding woman, who is interested in money and business, does not have time to shop anymore and she always wills to know what, why, where and how. The aspects mentioned above makes me gain interest in her as I will be inclined to think like her and be successful in my career as well.
Also, I admire her ability to help others and her general contribution to society. Wintour has always kept individuals updated and given them relevant and unique advice regarding fashion. She has made vogue magazine a channel that keeps the readers updated on the latest trends. The position of her career also presents an opportunity for her to exchange fashion and trends with other places, for instance, Milan and Paris (Best). She helps individuals to develop their sense of style, and she contributes to society by adding a dazzling touch to the everyday lives of people. Just like Anna Wintour, I would like to have a positive impact on other people.
