Introduction

America is termed to be the land of opportunities by third world countries and developed countries. This has led to an increase in the number of both the legal and illegal immigrants moving into America every year, thus creating problems in the United States. Immigrants have resulted in the economic crisis in the United States, which the leaders and the American citizens have associated with these immigrants. African countries, Middle East, Caribbean, and Mexico are some of the places where American immigrants have been said to be coming from in large numbers. Due to this reason, there have been political differences among the leaders with each side having its own opinion on the matter.

There are different ways in which one can move into America; the green card has been one of the ways that many people find their way into America, others come to seek education or further their education while the majority come as job seekers. From the African countries, there is increased unemployment that makes many Africans seek for greener pastures in America. With America being a developed country, more job opportunities pay far better than African jobs. This makes America one of the first choices for Africans who migrate here and get comfortable and end up setting up permanent residence in America. Therefore, this has led to dual citizenship with others advancing their academic to a point where they are senior government employees or respected professionals in America.

Mexicans being neighbors to the Americans from the south, they are strategically located where they can quickly move into the United States. There is a large population of Mexicans in the United States who come to seek job opportunities, thus occupying jobs like taxi driving for men and house girls for ladies. Due to a few job opportunities in Mexico, Mexicans move to the United States to seek better-paying jobs. Being very close to the United States, Mexicans are placed in a better location to engage in illegal business activities in America (Hacker et al. 590). With the United States government being strict on drug production and trafficking, Mexican engage in this activity and sell to Americans who provide a ready market thus leading to increased drug trafficking among the Mexicans present in the United States.

The increase in immigrants' population has proved to be a significant problem in the USA. These immigrants have taken most of the American jobs making some Americans and other immigrants to remain jobless. This has led to an increase in the number of unemployed individuals and criminal activities such as drug trafficking and robbery (Schneider). The American people have been blaming some of these problems on the immigrant's since they have taken their jobs, flooded their schools and increased the crime rate. The number of illegal immigrants has also increased, and this has caught the eyes of the public and the politicians, making it become an issue on political campaigns.

How the Democrats and Republicans Differ in their Approach to this Issue

The Democrats and the Republicans have all held a different opinion on the number of immigrants in the United States. The Republicans have had a harsher idea regarding the immigrants, in the 2018 presidential elections between the Republican candidate Donald Trump and democrat candidate Hilary Clinton, the issue of immigrants played out clearly. Both the Republicans and the Democrats addressed the issue of immigrants, but the republican were harsher in dealing with this issue. Trump blamed the increased insecurity and reduced job opportunity in America on the immigrants. He indicated that most of the problems experienced by Americans today were caused by the failure of the previous administration to enact laws that would regulate the number of immigrants, and ensure deportation and eradication of illegal immigrants in the United States.

During the presidential campaign, the deportation of illegal immigrants and the building of a wall between the United States and Mexico border was among the top issues in the Republican manifesto. Trump saw that by regulating the number of immigrants in the United States would benefit the American people and lead to the growth of the American economy since there will be the creation of adequate jobs for the Americans (Baek et al. 79). This would also reduce the crime rate in the United States, which he stated that these immigrants and the unemployed Americans brought it. It seemed inhuman to many people with the Democrats not supporting this idea. The Democrats thought of the creation of more jobs for the Americans, but according to Trump, this would not solve the issue of insecurity.

The American people seem to have been impressed by Donald trump ideas, and he ended up winning the majority of votes in the Electoral College. Trump has sworn to make his promise come true by doing everything necessary to build the wall. Despite failure by Congress to pass the budget for building the wall, Trump is making every effort to ensure that a wall is built between Mexico and the United States to prevent illegal immigrants (Landgrave 2017). Therefore, many people who have been in the United States illegally have been deported, and it is becoming more challenging to move into the United States without the explicit purpose of moving there.
