Introduction
The concept of artificial intelligence emerges as the focus of society. Technological advancement promises advancement in which robots will replace human beings in almost all aspects. Concerning the anticipated benefits of robotics, human beings will be relieved of much work both at the workplace and at home hence guaranteeing the required level of efficiency. Currently, people are assured that robotics serves as an automated replacement of the human effort in the daily tasks and that the machines have the same capability as humans hence the need to permit their installation in various places. However, the possibility for the introduction of robots is treated with controversy as it significantly raises public fear because of several negative implications. While the introduction of robots to replace human effort could bring efficiencies, it will possibly violate the standards in the society, therefore not entirely acceptable in the various settings in which it is recommended.
The Current Problem
The possibility of having robots to replace human beings at the workplace and other settings while there are fear negative implications of the same is a current problem that prompts a research practice. According to Aoun (2017), artificial intelligence is another version of the natural information exhibited by human beings. There is a considerable level of doubt regarding how suitable robots will be when they ultimately assume the role of humans. Fear of social implications when artificial intelligence takes control; significantly influences the acceptability of replacement by robots. A possible impact will be the hybridization, in which the boundary between human beings and machines will be blurred. As a result, the role of humanity in humanity could face a significant threat (Ferrari, Paladino, & Jetten, 2016). Besides, the anticipations regarding the benefits could not be realized because many do not understand how to operate them. Subsequently, information scientists are promising the society that they are working on making robots, which will be user-centred and friendly to reduce the fear among human beings. However, the public still feels the inadequacy associated with the necessary skills required of human beings to understand robots.
Most controversial instances arise with the possibility of installing robots in sensitive sectors like healthcare. The potential of robotics to take control over human tasks and the resulting fear among the public creates some gap, which is worth researching. These are some of the sectors in which accuracy with minimal or mistake is expected. The installation of robots to do the job of human beings is an idea that may not readily acceptable by society. It may cost the information scientists much justification of the suitability in this area; however, people do not understand how the machines can replace the professional and deliver appropriately.
Research Question
What are the implications of Robots Replacing Humans and taking over the human tasks in all settings?
The researcher will conduct a study to answer the question. The question emerges from the current problem of the possibility of artificial intelligence taking over the role of human beings. While the researcher will focus on answering the issue through research, the purpose of the study will reveal the cause of the fear among the public following probable manifestations in the next generation of computing. According to Salvini, Laschi and Dario (2016), ultimately, the research will have bridged the gap in the past research with laminations noted with the published literature.
Research Plan
The study will use qualitative research methods based on the potential of developing a more profound understanding of the perception of people concerning realities. The methods will also help in the analysis of the attitudes of the public based on the social implications and the overall consequence in the social world (Schiek, 2014). The most applicable method in this area of research is the qualitative interviews; the technique will involve real-time interaction with the resource persons. The study consists of the understanding of the possible implications of the replacement of human beings by robots, to the public. According to Silvermany (2017), interviews allow for reliable, cheap and fast data collection to facilitate the exercise. The other method will involve the study of trends as published in literature. This will reveal the views of the individuals in the society who will be affected by the issues.
There is an extraordinary impact on researching the issue. The exercise will reveal the actual consequences to be expected once robots are set to replace humans in various settings. Despite the importance of the research, multiple risks will possibly emerge in the end. For one, the findings and conclusions from the study could discourage society from applying the efforts towards advancements in the field of computing (Sciutti et al., 2018). This is mainly when the implications of the findings focus on the negative consequences of the advancement. The other risk could increase in fear that it will cause to the public through uncovering the doubts that the scientists themselves could be having concerning the technology aspect they are currently recommending.
