Introduction
A family refers to a group of people living together and is related either by birth or affinity. Families are meant to ensure the well-being of its members and society at large. Apart from ensuring continuity of humankind, a family is the most essential unit which offers basic needs to its members as well as relevant social skills, which can enable them to live well in different cultural backgrounds.
The Role of Effective Communication in Family Development
Communication is the primary means through which members express themselves in a family. Effective communication, therefore, plays a critical role in developing members of a family. It allows members to express their ideas, needs, and feelings in a manner that can be properly understood (Rockshow Comedy Tour, 2013). The people responsible are also able to listen carefully and sensitively to various concerns of other family members and provide amicable solutions.
What Can Be Done to Improve Successful Communication Relationships in a Family?
Successful communication relationships in a family can be enhanced in several ways. It is important to build and develop a variety of proper communication skills among family members. This ensures that different concerns and issues affecting the family are raised openly and handled appropriately (Scott, 2016). Also, family members should stick to effective and ethical communication and put more emphasis on the family aspects, which enhance their unity rather than those which create differences among them.
The Prevalent Interpersonal Communication Issues
Interpersonal communication patterns have significantly changed as a result of social, economic, and technological dynamics. For instance, there is a limited connection and physical interaction among family members because of education and work. Most children currently do not have close bonds to their parents, and this has created a spirit of independence in most families (Rockshow Comedy Tour, 2013). Moreover, technological advancement has equally made it possible for family members to communicate and connect wherever they are. This has seen a significant rise in the number of family members who communicate through phone calls, texts, and chats. Maximum control and care should, however, be taken when using such platforms because, if misused, they can erode interpersonal relationships and communication patterns among family members.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it is explicit from the above discussion that family is an important aspect of an individual's life. Effective communication among family members should be encouraged because it builds and develops interpersonal relationships among family members.
