Defense and security play an important role in ensuring that citizens are defended from both internal and external security. The thesis of the paper is based on the Chinese-Russian Defense and Security relations with the aim of countering the encirclement of the United States of America. Even though Trump's administration has been perceived to have hidden ties with Russia, the general knowledge remain that, "it is a Trump's affair," but not that of the United States. China and Russia on the other hand, have made a tremendous step in ensuring that they strengthen their ties, something which has disadvantaged the United States (Cottey, n.p). The topic is part of international ties or relations because it looks at how two nations relate at the national level and how their pact may be a problem to the United States.

The Chinese government recently announced its plans of contributing towards the Russian objective of supporting the Assad regime in Syria, something which proved that indeed Russia and China had had tremendous growth on their ties within the past half a decade. As from 2010, the two nations were brought together by similar perceptions or outlook on the issues surrounding international security. They both claim that they share similar political ideologies and manifesto which are objectively based on non-interference and state sovereignty and each is afraid of the encirclement which may come as a result of the United States' impact (Nathan and Andrew, n.p). Their shared threat perception has contributed to an increased routine of military exercises, unified stands on regional security matters, the military-technical cooperation and matters about military-military contact.

Even though China and Russian have not made a public security pact, the United States continues to remain wary of their existing partnership. History also has it that the two nations tend to seek assistance from each other when there is pressure from the United States. The assistance may be in the form of economics, security, and any other related issue which may threaten their national security or general stability. In consideration of how the two nations are keen in dealing with the United States, the U.S. government should reconsider the manner in which it has been dealing with duo in the past and adopt a more comprehensive and coordinated technique with the aim of avoiding the provision of any incentives to either of them (Taliaferro, 135). The technique will ensure that they deepen their cooperation and may end up having each other for a dependent. The United States will also shift focus to other nations like France and Germany to mention but a few and build a strong relationship hence leaving China and Russia isolated. Even though the two nations are both powerful military-wise coupled with steady economic stability, they will depend on initiating ties with other nations to remain where they are or advance their positions globally.

It is also worthwhile to note that the relationship of China and the United States can be traced to as early as 1989 when the duo began on negotiating about the force reductions along the border which they both shared. Eventually, they ended up establishing a strategic and comprehensive partnership which also became their main step in addressing their historical challenges and acquiring a continental flank. Another component of their renewed partnership was also noted to have been on the sales of arms especially after the tragedy which occurred at Tiananmen Square (Wang, 460). Russia at the time had lost much of its weaponry support after the breakdown of the union which was established by the U.S.S.R. Over the years, the partnership of the two nations has improved even as the United States also made steps on the strengthening of NATO. Today, the United States continues to impose sanctions and tariffs on Russian businesses and Chinese goods respectively, a move that proves its aim in competing with the duo across all the domains of power.
