Introduction

Daniel Leigh is the kid who believes that he is crazy. He is an odd kid who is not popular in his school although he is in the school football team 'Erie Hills Elephants.' He hates football, and the only reason he is on the side is to make his father, his brother Steve happy and to keep his best friend Max who also plays for the team. Daniel believes if does not continue playing football his friend Max will stop being his friend, considering he is the only friend he keeps at it being a backup kicker. The good thing is that his mother and his sister Emma always got his back.

People say that Daniel is smart and his teachers even tell him that he has a vast vocabulary and that he writes way above his level and age considering he is only thirteen. Steve his brother always tells him not using fancy English or else he will never get a girlfriend. Steve has a cheerleader girlfriend, famous in school, so Leigh takes his advice. Raya is a girl in Daniel's class that he likes and usually hangs out with his friend Max, so he hangs out with her by default.

The reason Daniel thinks he is crazy is that he is very verbal but cannot tell anyone about his problems and also has a thing he calls 'ZAPS.' These do different things to him, but there is always a particular process that starts with bad thoughts followed by terrible feelings like he is being attacked by a 'Dementor ' finally he gets a feeling like he will never be happy again or he might die if something is not done very quickly.

Daniel's favorite day is Tuesday because on this day he does not have football practice, his last subject of the day Geography does not come with homework, he gets to spend the evening with max playing video games at his home and gets to see Raya. On one Tuesday things are not they are for all Tuesdays because on this day Sara the school psycho as Max calls her talks to Daniel as they are going home. Daniel gets strange from feeling from the way she looked at him and even feels like she is the only one has ever actually seen him, and that does not make any sense to him.

Leigh loves to write because that is the only way he feels that he completely safe maybe because he can create a world of his own where there are no crazy people. He is even writing a book where he makes everyone disappear from the earth, and he has to find a way to bring them back before it too late. Every time he experiences a ZAP, he writes to relax.

Sara and Daniel eventually become friends and realize that they have a lot in common. Sara wants Daniel's help in solving the mysterious reason why her father died because she believes that he was murdered. As they go about solving this mystery, they both realize that have problems and Daniel becomes more open to confronting his problem. King's in this pre-teens book never really says what happens to the crush that Daniel has on Raya but keeps things exciting as he shows how Daniel deals with his obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Wesley brings out the aspect that it is okay to be different and there is always someone who understands that.
