Many at times, young people make poor decisions as a result of the circumstances they find themselves in. Asimov uses Katrina as a means to carry around and hide drugs disguised as a pregnancy. While Spike is fighting off Asimov, the syndicate goons make an arrival. Spike tries to fight them off to prevent them from killing Asimov. Katrina and Asimov attempt to escape but unluckily a stray bullet catches Katrina's stomach. This is when we realize that Katrina was hiding drugs in the disguised pregnancy. Ironically, Asimov yells at her for exposing the drugs to the bullet. He does not seem concerned about her safety. This instance shows the poor decisions that young people make in their life. Katrina chooses to operate alongside her partner who cares little about her safety. Katrina's decision to operate alongside Asimov is due to the need to improve her situation than pure will.

Sometimes the difficult situations we face in life can force us to commit the crime of murder. When the exit is barricaded by the police leaving no room for their escape, Katrina knows that they have very little chances of escaping alive. She shoots Asimov just before Spike catches up with the ship and tells him 'adios.' The police sprayed the ship with bullets leaving no chance of survival of human life in the ship. Afterward we see the body of Katrina floating in space. Katrina makes a bad decision of taking the life of Asimov. However, she was the love of her life and she could not bear the sight of them getting caught by the authorities. Therefore, she made a poor decision of taking his life because she was faced by a difficult option of watching each other get captured by the authorities and going to jail for their crimes. It is also evident that some people make poor decisions as a result of addiction. Asimov's addiction to drugs may be a major reason why gets involved in the life of crime. When Asimov goes to the bar to seal a deal with the bar owner, he uses the drug on himself to demonstrate the effectiveness of the drug. It is a dangerous affair when the seller of drugs has to prove the effectiveness of a drug by using it on himself each time before making a sale. It appears later that the drugs that Asimov was trying to sell were stolen from a crime syndicate. This leads to gun battles that end with the death of the bar owner. It is evident that necessity not only leads to a life of crime for Asimov but also drug addiction and being targeted by the bounty hunters. Therefore, Asimov makes poor decisions in his life due to the need to improve his financial situation.

Asimov makes a poor decision to choke Spike and pass him out despite the fact that Spike had passed on the opportunity to capture him. Spike was concerned that Asimov was sick and explained the same to his girlfriend. However, Asimov does consider this when he chokes him out. Unfortunately, he finds Spike acting as the owner of a cafe where he is asked for a demonstration of Bloody Eye and finds it missing. That is when he discovers that the cafe owner was Spike in disguise. Spike goes ahead to destroy the drug which he had in his possession before giving Asimov a beat down. Spike followed Asimov because of the poor decision he made to choke him in the past. The poor decision by Asimov to choke Spike was due to fear of getting caught.

Conclusion

Overall, it is evident that poverty and the influence of friends are the major reasons for poor decision making that leads to death in the 'Asteroid Blues.' Katrina makes a poor decision in forming a partnership in crime with her romantic partner. Asimov does not value her enough because he risks her life by making her carry the drugs which are disguised as a pregnancy. Also, Katrina makes a poor decision when she kills Asimov when there was no way they could get out of the ship alive. In another instance, Asimov chokes Spike when Spike had given up on the idea of capturing him. Eventually, Spike follows him and the encounter leads to the death of Asimov in the ship. We should strive to make the best decisions even when the odds are not in our favor.
