Introduction

Crime refers to an action or omission, which constitutes an offence and is punishable by law (Miller, 2014). Crime scene, on the other hand, refers to a place in which a crime took place itself or even an area that contains evidence from the crime itself (Petherick & Rowan, 2015). The crime involved a man who was stabbed ten times and found lying on his sofa the next day. The man was in his early fifties, and he was staying alone because he had recently divorced. The crime scene was segregated, and no one was allowed to access it as there would be a possibility of destruction of evidence if the general public access it. Scene Information

The scene was full of blood because the victim was stabbed ten times, and the loss of blood led to his death. Different items were noticed to be broken, and this showed that there had been resistance and probably a fight before the victim finally surrendered as he was trying to defend himself. It was also seen that the victims head was swollen, and it was evident that he had been hit with a blunt object.

Movements Within the Scene

The scene was searched so that all the necessary clues and evidence could be gathered. The house was searched, and all necessary documents put aside so that they could help in more investigation. Nothing was left to chance, and every aspect that could help in this investigation was considered.

Items Missing

After the house was searched entirely, it was noticed that different documents were missing. Being a wealthy person, the victim was at risk of being attacked by various people, including his wife whom they had been divorced with, and this was especially because she wanted a share of his property. The documents found to be missing were business ownership documents, title deeds as well as log books of different vehicles.

Evidence Found

Evidence that was found included the knife that was used to stab the victim, and it had been thrown away in a dustbin located outside the house. A piece of cloth soaked with blood was also recovered, and it had been put inside the victim's mouth to prevent him from shouting or screaming. Blood samples were also collected to help look for DNA evidence of the suspect involved in this killing (Petherick & Rowan, 2015). Fingerprints were also collected from different places in the house, and finally, soil samples that were seen in the house were also collected.

There were different photographs taken so that evidence could be easily documented in the form of photographs. The photographs of different things were taken and this involved photographs of the victim who was stabbed, the knife used to kill, the piece of cloth put in the victim's mouth as well as the pool of blood that was in the floor where the deceased was found.

Evidence Log

The evidence that was found showed that the former wife of the victim was involved in the death of the victim. This was because different pieces of evidence showed her direct involvement in the killing. The fingerprints collected matched hers as well as the DNA evidence which matched hers completely (Miller, 2014).

Conclusion

During the cause of the investigation, different activities were undertaken. The different suspects who were thought to be involved in the murder were arrested as the investigations were being carried out so that they would not interfere with the evidence. Family members were also contacted and questioned so that the investigators would look for any clue that would lead to the killing of the victim.
