It also encompasses improving standards of people in an organization and other stakeholders including suppliers, communities, government, and consumers. Presently, the responsibilities of companies are referred as Triple Bottom line (TBL) that entails people, planet, and profit. For instance, to demonstrate corporate social responsibility towards people, organizations may adopt humanistic management approaches or better remunerations, and towards communities by contributing to the education and health facilities (Corral Granados, & Granados Gamez 2010, p. 467). Discussion of Sustainability
Triple Bottom Line
The triple bottom line is a model that measures the success of an organization, as well as its social and ethical performance. It is an endless process that assists an organization to focus on changing into a more sustainable business while at the same time demonstrating to the local community and workers that it does not only aims at making a profit but achieving a greater common good (Dyllick,& Hockerts 2002, p 132). The triple bottom line also refers to a sustainable business model that balances performance, economic, social participation, as well as, environmental sustainability (Epstein, & Buhovac 2014). Intuitively, any firm that employs this model can attract processes, values, and issues, reduce and rectify any damage emanating from their operations and establish social, economic and environmental values. The model states that the corporation should consider all the requirements of its stakeholders, clients, shareholders, government agencies, staff, business associates, local communities, and the public (Gimenez, Sierra & Rodon 2012, p. 149).
Economic Line
The economic aspect of the triple bottom line (TBL) details how practices of an organization affect the economic system. It illuminates the potentials of the economic system to drive sustainable business operation and transform existing systems for future sustainability. Further, it establishes a nexus between the growth of the corporation and economic growth. In particular, it focuses on how the growth of the company promotes economic growth and development. This growth is measured by the economic value that activities of the organization add to the local communities. The organization should design and implement the value addition in such a manner that it prospers the corporation and enhances its capacity and ability to sustain future generations (Hall 2011, p 4).
Social Line
This aspect involves employing useful and just business practices to manage human capital and workforce. Principally, these activities have social value and return to the community the energy they used to build the organization. Some of these practices encompass offering health insurance and fair wages. Reportedly, an organization has a moral obligation to coexist harmoniously in the society and engage in environmentally friendly activities (Hammer & Pivo 2017, p 36). Therefore, failing to implement social responsibility can adversely affect its productivity and ultimately impede its continuity. Studies indicate that ignore corporate social responsibility incur economic costs, thus reducing their growth prospects.
Environmental Line
It entails the adoption of practices, which ensure sustainable use of environmental resources for generations to come. It involves effective utilization of energy resources, reduction of greenhouse gases released, and conservation of the ecosystem. As stated in the social line, environmental operations also affect the sustainability of activities of the organization. Reportedly, organizations can achieve competitive advantage in the industry by using practices that are directed towards conserving the environment and enhancing the social welfare of various stakeholders through value addition (Hammer, & Pivo 2017, p 230).

Corporate Social Responsibility
In his study, Carroll (1991) asserted that corporate social responsibility is a four leveled model comprising of legal, moral, economic, and ethical responsibilities (Jeurissen 2000, p 229). The corporate social responsibility pyramid begins with economic obligations and extends to legal, moral, and ethical ones. The current business environment is changing faster than ever due to changes in ethical responsibilities and economic growth prospects. This trend implies that the charitable and ethical obligations of organizations are becoming increasingly significant. The defining features of successful organizations remain their CSR, economic obligations, and legal requirements. The CSR presents a more proactive approach to harmonizing social values with business functions that symbolizes success. An organization's ethical conduct manifests in the culture it follows in its activities. This culture shapes the vision and goals that reflect the corporate image and moral action.
The corporate social responsibility of an organization should target operation that considers the impacts of the activities on the society and natural environment. The consensus view is that organizations have a social responsibility of incorporating techniques and policies that support morally binding strategic choices and business processes (Alhaddi 2015, p 10). The CSR approach was initially intended to represent philanthropy. This perspective has changed over the past decade into the obligation of protecting and improving the living standards of workers, thereby uplifting the local communities in which they operate. CSR policies address challenges facing various units of company operations. According to Dyllick and Hockerts (2002), hiring staff, customer care, management and integrities, training and development, environmental impact assessments, as well as responsible procurement are the main operating units in an organization that CSR focuses on.
