Introduction
In the lecture given by Dr. Byrd, one gets to understand the importance of communication to an individual, others, and the whole society. This implies that communication starts with oneself. A person communicates internally, and that is why some of the decisions are reached up to by an individual without consult6ing others. Apart from intrapersonal communication, there is also interpersonal communication. This type of communication mostly happens between two intimate people. For instance, people in a romantic relationship. Also, there is mass communication which includes many people. Mass communication is always done through radio, television, and other channels that allow the message to be communicated to many people.
Communication profoundly affects mental practices. For better development of the brain, a robust discussion is required. Children when they are growing up, they need healthy connections that will enable them to have high mental practices when they grow up. This means that parents and kindergarten teachers have a significant role in impacting the mental exercise of a child through communication; hence, scrupulousness is required while handling them to ensure they have high mental practices.
Behaviors of others are greatly influenced by communication. Through communication, one can be able to change the actions of other people, for instance, dressing code. When someone is not pleased with particular behavior in another person or people, through communication, he can be able to influence them to leave the behaviors and emulate his or hers. Besides influencing behaviors, regulation and control of behaviors are done through communication. This is seen mostly in organizations and families. Organizations have rules and regulations that rare communicated effectively through manuals and other platforms that regulate the behavior of people in it, for instance, in schools where the school develops guidelines that govern on the conduct of students. In families, the father or mother can regulate the behaviors of children through communication that is emphasizing on the right behaviors and rebuking bad behaviors. Motivation, on the other hand, is used to praise good behaviors. For instance use of polite language like thank you and appreciating words like good, prudent can cultivate good behaviors within individuals. On the other hand, for one to improve the relationship, he must use communication as a crucial tool. That is through dialogue; One can take care of other peoples' needs.
The rules and regulations of the society are understood through communication. This is the vital part of the conversation to society. As individuals live in society, they adhere to rules that help them live in harmony. Therefore the coming generation should understand the rules of the society which is done best through communication. Through forums and meetings, society leaders can be able to convey the rules of society to individuals. Apart from forums and meetings, personal interaction also plays a vital role in communicating the expectations of society.
Therefore, communication is vital in any area. A person with a degree in communication have a chance of working in many places. It should also be noted that connection was there in mythology, the beginning of the universe.
