The main research question of this study is whether the Chinese migration to the United States was attributed to physical factors like population forces or economic factors or was it attributed to the mental and physical states of the Chinese people.

Thesis Statement

The Chinese migration to the United States in the mid-19th century was attributed mainly by economic factors. This is because, in the 19th century, many Chinese people in the U.S worked as labourers in mining sites as well as in the construction of transcontinental railroads.

Different theories have been used to explain international migration and migration in general. This research will use the three international theories, which include Macro, Meso, and Micro theories in explaining the Chinese patterns of migration to the U.S.
