Introduction

The breakups of the population from the three countries, i.e., Catalonia, Ukraine, and Scotland, was because of the various reasons. One of which included endorsing the principle of self-determination, which has to change the territorial map of Europe. There had been a lot of issues between the governments at Westminster and Hollywood over the process to be adopted to instigate the constitutional change. This led to the complicated relationship between politics and law in the British constitution to the forefront of the public discourse. Thus the ambiguous status of the constitution, which was initiated by Scotland, kept alive through the nationalist's tendencies as well as an independent legal system.

The establishment of the devolved administration led to the creation of the division between the legal sovereignty as well as the political sovereignty of the Scottish people. The liberal conception of democracy in Scotland was readily used in promoting the independent right of Scotland. "As with Scotland, this is now about more than nationalism: small-country independence movements are being fuelled by the failure of big states to resolve the economic crisis" (BBC News, 2018). The liberals granted the individuals the right to decide their political relationships, and this determined the way the representation issues, secession, and sovereignty were addressed between the three countries. Besides, Catalonia had a long-established national entity. A regional parliament had already been established with a high degree of self-governance, especially in terms of financial as well as cultural issues. This led to the population breakups from the countries.

Cultural or Ethnic Characteristics

The sources mention the cultural characteristics of the people of Scotland, where the people of Scotland remain their scots laws its legal system based on Roman law, which is a combination of both common law and civil law. The process of secession may produce positive or negative consequences. In cases where people in the seceding region are overwhelmingly in favor of the secession and if people in the other areas of the state are hardly affected where all the consequences are likely to be positive (de Blij, 2010). The seceding region includes a racial, ethnic, or even religious culture. Therefore the main goal behind self-determination has been taken as a cornerstone in the normative development in the human rights field. Self-determination mainly incorporates the hoes of ethnic people, including other groups for independence (BBC News, 2018). In Catalonia, the culture, language, religion as well as the private law have been the pillars in which the sense of the national identity which had lasted for many years had been revealed. The Scottish in Scotland, according to the web pages, the cultural, as well as the national identity, is defined by the historical place.

The Catalans were given to the national vindication movement advocating for the cultural recognition of Catalonia became popular while speaking the Spanish language. The coexistence of the people in Catalanism is due to the Catalan loss of its institutions during the later years. The main reason for Spain being against the independence of Catalonians. In terms of the economic situation of the countries, the sources reveal that the Scotland and Catalonia may be able to ace the common market indirectly by trying to join the "European Fair Trade Association" (EFTA) (de Blij, 2010). This kind of partial passive kind of membership that guarantees equal rights as well as the obligations within the citizens' internal market as well as the economic operators in the European Economic Area (EEA) Membership. Finally, many Catalonians have a state working together against their interest restraining their chances of cultural as well as economic development along with some of the associative rupture of the Spanish state.

Characteristics Of The Separatist Movement

The separatists always had a belief that the province or the state with plenty of resources, as well as the high standard of living in the individualization world, may obtain success in the form of a separate country. The main western Euro's countries, for instance, France, Belgium, United Kingdom Spain and Italy contains political movements where the members have a rejection to control the government through the sovereign start available and hence claim to be essential for the different national entity. The countries have also acceded to the separatist demands and also improved circumstances of the minority people who are disadvantaged regardless of being economical, religious, economic as well as political. The separatists also adopted asymmetric federalism, where the various states had different relations to the central government dependent on the separatist's demands.

The act of secession is often viewed by the separatist more as the problem from the politics than one of the law. Thus according to this, secession is a complex process that involves very sensitive issues; for instance, the self-determination principle guaranteeing fundamental human rights as well as the redistribution of the various resources. Another main characteristic of the movements is the geopolitical power vacuum, which exists from the breakup of the more massive empires or the state.
