Introduction

Every individual tends to take up some behaviors which if uncontrolled become habits. Habits can be positive or negative depending on the type of action being carried out. However negative patterns can be hazardous towards personal growth and development if unaltered and controlled. Therefore, it's crucial to analyze behavior personally and identify negative habits (Bouton, 2016). After the identification, one can realize the adverse effects of the practice, hence giving them a chance to implement changes and improvements where necessary. Currently, I am undergoing a crisis towards my studies whereby, I tend to lose concentration easily and doze off even while classes are still ongoing. By the end of the day, I end up losing a lot and not having picked up on most of what was taught in class.

The habit that needs improvement

Lack of concentration

The existence of a harmful habit within a student is quite detrimental and can lead to failing entirely. Behaviors tend to determine student performance largely, and the presence of negative habits can profoundly affect how they learn and grow about studies as well as social life (Bouton, 2016). Currently am looking for techniques that I can implement to ensure that I increase my concentration. I intend to change my attitude towards certain teachers and at the same time ensure that I get enough rest whenever I get the chance enabling me to minimize my chance of falling asleep during class time.

Overconfidence

Confidence is vital when it comes to studies, and the lack of confidence can fail. However, overconfidence is dangerous in its way towards the growth and development of all students (Hefferon, 2013).

Being overconfident brings about ignorance which has severe impacts if uncontrolled at an early stage. Therefore it's preferable that every individual controls the amount of confidence one depicts so that it cannot affect him or her negatively. Having a balance with confidence reduces ignorance. I tend to have so much belief in myself which at times prevents me from seeking help on issues and problems from those around me. Therefore I aim to reinforce a balance which will allow me to better cope with life and study stress as well as hardships.

Status of the behavior

The presence of overconfidence and the lack of concentration have a significant impact on my personal and social life. Although both factors are useful in several cases, they tend to prevent one from interacting on both levels and at the same time put one under a lot of pressure to perform in school all with the aim of proving a point towards the rest that they can stand alone (Hefferon, 2013). As a result, one is avoided by the rest and turns into a loner, and this leads to poor psychological being and an increase in depression rates.

The final desired behavior

My objective is to change my attitude towards people and studies, which requires one to be moderately confident and moderately ignorant in such a way that they can interact successfully (Bouton, 2016). Through getting rid of my behavioral barriers, I am in an excellent position to identify areas where the behaviors tend to become problematic hence changing my mindset. I also intend to ensure that studying is no longer a hard task but something I do freely without the pressure of proving anything to anyone.

I aim at restoring a balance within my environment and myself and keep in mind the fact that learning is always about teamwork (Bouton, 2016). Eventually, I will be able to improve my attitude towards teachers and other students hence enhancing personal growth by doing away with all adverse effects that come along with ignorance and overconfidence.
