Introduction

Ethics are standards that are set to govern a community as well as regulate behavior and allow distinction of procedures to be accepted or rejected. Ethics are very crucial in the field of criminal justice since they keep up departments and community morals. They also ensure every individual is charged fairly and justice is served accordingly.

Discuss at least three different ways to analyze ethical decisions

Ethics cannot be just considered a matter of opinion but can be analyzed rationally and objectively (Braswell et all.p78). However, different people argue differently from a few basic principles of ethics, but the mainstreams principles have developed to understand necessary clauses for an ethical choice. The following are ways of analyzing ethical decisions:

  1. The policy of generalization- this principle requires that the motive of an action to be unswerving such that anyone with similar reasons can act the same way. These principle states that what is accurate for one human being should also be precise to another individual in the same circumstance. The principle implies that general grounds of an act must be either right or wrong for a class of similar individuals. Though the law has not described how the circumstances can be similar or not thus, it can be challenged.
  2. Virtue ethics - it is one of the normative ethics that emphasizes moral character, rules or duties and consequences of a particular action. These form of ethics emphasises on doing good to others as one would like to be done unto him/her.
  3. The principle of utilitarian - the word utilitarian comes from the word utility which on this case means happiness or pleasure. This principle states that every ethical decision made should be of joy which is the only right thing that has intrinsic value. If something has inherent value, it is said to be merely excellent on itself.

Discuss at least three different ways of analyzing the moral behavior

Moral behaviour can be examined based on the following situations:

  1. The facts- first ask what or which facts make an ethical situation. When deciding particular acts are whether right or wrong, ensure that the facts of actions are clear to enhance proper justice to the right person.
  2. Ethical issues - It is important to understand the kind of ethical issues that an individual may be dealing with, whether corporate, individual or systematic. Knowing the type of issues one is dealing with will help in identifying the decision to make.
  3. The stakeholders - this is to determine who will be affected by the decision. When analyzing the moral behavior, it is crucial to take into account the affected party in order to ensure that the decision will be fair to any participant.

Discuss at least three different ways of looking at justice

Justice is a way of treating people fairly under-recognized laws and rules. Justice can be viewed in the following ways;

  1. Pop satire - this is a way of looking justice in a humorous way. That is making the judgment of an action in a funny way but justice is served.
  2. Economically - this is a way of determining justice ultimately to create opportunities for the individual as well as sufficient material upon which to have a productive, dignified and creative life.
  3. Socially - this is a way of looking to justice in a social way that will ensure social relationship among the persons concerned is retained.

Discuss how one becomes an ethical professional

To be a profession means to have expertise and knowledge in the field one works. To be ethical is being honest and following moral standards set in a particular occupation. Therefore an ethical professional is a person who is honest, with good morals and follows the set standards to the later. A person can become a noble profession by;

  1. By ensuring when a person holds a specific occupation works in a morally and permissible way as well as in support of the moral idea. For instance, a librarian works to promote access of information to the recipients.
  2. Ensure the exceptional standards set are inline as a person carries his/ her duties - most of the occupations have set standard binding the members of a particular profession. An individual should be willing to follow the moral codes set to ensure professionalism in their work. As ethics are followed they will bring about good reputation to the member of that particular profession.
  3. By ensuring one communicates in a courteous way- in many occupations, communication is the key to teamwork but where there is presence of poor communication might be a sign of unprofessionalism.
