Introduction

The article -"The Tale of Genji" by Rainer Maria Rilke is not only informative but also insightful. It is an outstanding collection of autobiographies of the great poets around the world. In this article, he gives detailed information of the authors, including their childhood life, their inspirations into poetry and provides examples of their poetic works. Some of the poets he writes about are Rilke, Eliot, Anna, and Federico.

In the article, the writer explains Rilke's frustrations in his early childhood, loneliness in his teenage as he was in the military school and finally his move to Paris, where he encountered his artistic inspiration. Rilke believes a poet's role is to observe with a renewed sensitivity to the fleeting world. Eliot was another poet- a Nobel Prize winner in 1948; he has a unique role in defining modernist taste and style.

It is interesting to know that Anna Akhmatova, a Russian poet, was banned from publishing and was forced to withdraw from public activities because of her counterrevolutionary actions. I also learned that some of Akhmatova's great poems are "Requiem" and "Dedication." Federico Garcia, one of the most celebrated Spanish authors, is known for the striking imagery and lyric musicality of his work. He died in 1930 while still active on theatre both as a writer and as a director of a traveling theatrical group.

Pablo Neruda is a poet with both Spanish and Indian ancestry. In 1933 Neruda assumed a more activist political stance, his friend-Lorca is killed by the Franco Fascist guards, and from that point on Neruda became a public poet addressing social issues. Octavio Paz is a Mexican poet famous for his work on Mexican history and culture.

Leopold Sedar Senghor-the first president of Senegal is a famous poet known for his poems where he reflects the conflict between two races and their conceptions of life. Tadeusz Borowski is the foremost writer of atrocity literature. He published the book-This way for the gas, Ladies, and gentlemen.

The author provides a nuanced impression of Paul Celan. The way he characterizes Paul's poems as predominantly about suffering and loss is informative. He lost both parents in a Nazi prison, and he spent his life in a forced labor camp. Doris Lessing is a poet whose works reflect the conflict between cultures, values within the culture, and even the elements of personality. Saadat Hasan Manto was born in Punjab; he moved to Bombay as an editor of an Indian film. Unfortunately, he could not stay in Bombay due to the local's retaliation against Muslims. One of his significant artistic works is the book- Toba Tek Singh.

Conclusion

I like how the article narrates the life experiences of the poets, their inspirations into poetry, and how the work impacted the society at large. The article tries to explain the role of the poets in the community and the influence they have to the general public.
