According to Fihser, Montgomery, and Marsh (2018), "California has become something of a poster child for water shortages, having experienced moderate-to-severe drought conditions throughout much of the state for more than 5 years." Additionally, lack of water has in the past contributed to a serious wildlife threat that affected everywhere from southern California to the Pacific Northwest. The draught also has had serious ramifications on animals that thrive in the region it has forced some of them to take extreme measure in order to get access to water. The method is very realistic since it captures the real effects of drought in the region. The method of study generates the data used in answering the research question by using questionnaires that the respondents fill. The questions of data validity were resolved in the study by carrying out randomized research on the impact of water shortage on both residents and animals. Based on the results of the study, Fisher, Montgomery, and Marsh established that water shortage is a serious issue in California and it should be resolved as soon as possible to revive agriculture practices and meet the water demand of the residents of California.

Conclusion

The article discusses a critical problem that affects the vast majority of the residents of California. I think that the local and federal government should formulate a mechanism of controlling water shortage in California. Several sectors of the economy rely on the use of water in the state, hence actions should be taken to increase water supply and control water usage so that it would serve the future demand of water by the ever-growing economy.
