The blog post is about an interview with Dr. Ried Meloy. He is a renowned professor of forensic psychology, and he gives his personal view of mental health and gun ownership. The author aimed at present facts about mental health issues as related to gun control. The findings from the interview indicate that mental health issues should not be used as an excuse for gun violence.

The strengths of the article are that it is up to date with the current issues. Furthermore, it has utilized an expert in mental health to put forward the arguments. However, the personal opinion may be a source of biasness. Besides the weakness, the paper is credible since the psychologists are more knowledgeable in the field of mental health. He is also a reputable professor at the University Of California San Diego School Of Medicine and has also worked with FBI and CIA. Thus the paper will be utilized in explaining effects of mental health on gun control debates.

D. Agresti, J. and K. Smith, R. (2018). Gun Control - Just Facts. [online] Justfacts.com. Available at: https://www.justfacts.com/guncontrol.asp [Accessed 21 Mar. 2018].

The article by Agresti and Smith illustrates facts about gun ownership and control. The authors uses information from reports on research done by 2010 with the aim of finding number of gun ownership, crimes and self-defense, sources of illegal guns, laws and politics on matter of gun ownership. The articles found that 40-45% of households own guns. Furthermore, 16,272 crimes were committed in 2008 through gun-related cases. Finally, it was found that those who are denied gun ownership purchase them in gun shows.

The strengths of the article are that it uses data and facts from findings. On the contrary, using other people work is one of the weaknesses since the research may have been biased. Additionally, the data seems to be outdated. However, the paper will be applicable when discussing data about gun ownership as well as a source of illegal guns.

J. T. (1999, May 11). Gun-control legislation has a chance of Senate passage as soon as this week. Wall Street Journal.

The author uses this paper to illustrate that gun control and gun issues are not present but also past events. For instance, the author uses the case of Columbine High School massacre to show that gun-related cases were there even in the past. Furthermore, different states have been propositioning new legislation of curbing gun-related crimes for several years. The purpose of the article was therefore to provide ways that Clinton administration can use to curb gun violence. The finding is to have the legislation have an age limit of those who own rifles. The proposed age is 21 years of age. Additionally, bump stocks should entirely be eliminated.

The strength of the article is that it uses reliable sources to prove that gun relates cases are not only issues of the present. Besides, the paper uses simple language that can be understood by the public. However, it has the weaknesses of using old publications. The paper has recent information especially about Clinton administration, but its publication is of 1999. Regardless of the single weaknesses, the paper will be used when discussing past and present cases of gun-related violence.
