No matter how we look at it, having to confine an animal that has feelings and deserves some freedom of movement, is wrong (Hayelom, 2017). Then put them through a harrowing an experiment that may result in their death is quite immoral of humans.

Bad Science

The science of applying the results obtained from animal tests on humans often fails. The results are often are unreliable since humans differ from animals in their physiology. A report from the National Institutes of Health revealed that 95% of the tests that worked on animals, failed on humans (Hayelom, 2017).

Alternative Methods

There are alternative methods that can be explored in the quest to eliminate animal testing. Some of these include human-based micro-dosing where the human response to drugs is monitored after a minimal dose is induced to them; they are often too low to produce a whole-body effect but high enough to allow the response of the cells (Sepahban, 2015). Other methods developed include in vitro technology, simulators put on human patients, and chips put on human organs. These methods are more animal-friendly, cheap when compared to animal tests, faster and the accuracy level is high since the results are gotten from humans, not animals (Hayelom, 2017).

Animal experiments prolong the suffering of humans waiting for effective cures because the results mislead experimenters and squander precious money, time, and other resources that could be spent on human-relevant research. Animal experiments are so worthless that up to half of them are never even published.

It is quite wasteful to invest a lot of funds, time, and resources on carrying out experiments on animals, which later turns out to be a failed experiment when they do not work on humans. Too much time is taken while waiting for the test results that may be effective in curing humans. This lengthens the suffering period. The National Institutes of Health reports that around $12 billion goes to waste in research which is not published (Lawrence, 2018).

Conclusion

We have to base our choices on sound science and bad science, not animals and humans. Animals deserve freedom and no pain induced by humans; therefore, switching to methods that are more human-related, more modern, and do not include harming animals would be a huge step towards stopping the cruel animal tests.
