An Art From Mark Zuckerman Art Museum - Essay Sample

Introduction

Last Saturday at around 11 am I visited Mark Zuckerman Art Museum. This was my first time in the museum. I always yearned for the day I will have the pleasure to explore the arts in the museum. At the entrance, I was a little bit confused so I turned to the security for help. They directed me to the hand painted drawings since that is where my interest lied. As I walked through the museum, I was amazed by the number of paintings in that place. Most of these arts were attention-capturing and thought-provoking. Although the museum had plenty of work from different artists, one drawing which portrayed different elements and principles of arts is what captured my attention; giving me varied emotions.

As I continued my tour across the museum, I stabled to this painting which was located at one corner of the museum. My initial interest was a hand-drawn work so when I found this painting, I felt the satisfaction I needed. The painting was mind-blowing and dramatic. I immediately said "wow!" The person standing next to me could read the excitement in my eyes. The painting was hanging along the plain wall, making it more visible. From the drawing, three men standing outside a residential area surrounded by buildings. The buildings look old and abandoned with having a broken window without glass. The second adjacent building has stares entering it from where the three men stood. Outside each building are small green trees. Past the trees are the three men. One man is standing beside a car looking at the left. From how he looks, he must have been looking at something or a person. This man is wearing a black hat and a shirt and a court. The car hides much about what the man was wearing downwards. He is decently dressed, perhaps the boss of the other two men. Separated by the car, across are two men who seem to be in a confrontation. The man on the right is manhandling the one on the left. The man on the right is a little dressed down compared to the first one. However, he is wearing a black cap and dark eyeglasses. He is wearing a brown shirt and a black and white jacket. On the left the shortest man of all, he is not in a cap or hat and is shabbily dressed. The tall man on the right is confronting the one on the left; it seems like he was asking for something from him in the most unfriendly way. The shabbily dressed man is pointing his right hand pointing finger away from the two, probably showing what he was being asked to give. The man in cap looks angry with a wrinkled face. He might have threatened the shaggy man to the point of opening his mouth wide. The short man is quite scared of the manhandling him. The men from the picture could be cartels demanding for their money from a man who lives in these abandoned buildings.

The drawing is a two dimensional and a rectangular art (Justin). It is light tones with fainted dark colors. Some of the colors used to make up the art includes green, black, white and brown. The mixture of both bold and light colors makes the picture livelier. The space of the art is positive because the artist defined the work in depth. The art has a fine texture. The rhythm of the picture is non-uniform but well organized. The drawing is proportionate and well balanced. Its varieties are comfortably placed, not few and not many. The artist harmonized the colors of the work to reveals the similarities in the three men, trees and buildings. The mood of the drawing is quite intense. From the way the men standing together faces each ether with one's face folded and the other's mouth open, one can tell that the atmosphere is not so friendly. Much emphasis is put on the dressing color of the men compared to the color of the buildings ("Principles of art").

This art is attention capturing. It provoked my thoughts, raising interest to check what it was about. From the photo, I figured out that the artist wanted to bring out the feeling of gangsters. The way the boss stand while his right-hand manhandle his workers reveals criminal lives. Such stories are mostly told through movies or books but the artist decided to put it on the artwork. The beauty of the colorful drawing excited me when I saw it ("Elements and principles" 1). The different colors used bring out the involved emotions. The green trees show the presence of life despite the abandonment of these buildings. The dark fainted colors reveal the bad mood between the people living in these buildings as well as the cartels in the picture. The most interesting part of this drawing is between the two men confronting each other. The anger in them is clearly shown.
