Starbucks is one of the most visited coffee houses in America. The high volume of customers has enhanced the growth of the brand attracting many customers all over the country. One may think Starbucks provides the best coffee all over the country, resulting in a large number of customers, which is not the case. Americans prefer McDonald's or Dunkin Donuts coffee to Starbucks coffee due to the quality. However, Starbucks still receives a more significant number of customers than its competitors. The customer experience makes the coffee house stands out hence attracting many customers. Starbucks provides the customers with a pleasant atmosphere with relaxing music in the background combined with friendly baristas, great aromas, and indirect lighting, which makes the experience an enjoyable, welcoming, and relaxing one. The coffee house is also known all over the world, making visitors in the United States to visit it as opposed to other coffee houses due to the already established trademark, and customer trust. The Starbucks I visited was in New York. I spent two hours every evening, observing the occurrences in the coffee house. I also engaged an informant who has been working in the shop for over five years now. He explained to me the reasons people prefer Starbucks to the other coffee shops regardless of the coffee quality not being the best compared to the competitors.
Starbucks Experience
For the two hours I spent at Starbucks every evening, I enjoyed the experience. For the two hours, I ordered a cup of coffee, which I enjoyed while doing my homework and also observing how the shop operated. I affirmed the informant's point that many customers were attracted by the customer experience in the coffee shop. The experience in the shop was excellent as the music, together with the aromas and lighting, made it really enjoyable. It was relaxing and could revitalize a person who had a long day at work. Since I was coming from school, I managed to relax and gather some energy to do my homework while having coffee from the shop, thanks to the cool atmosphere presented by the coffee shop. The coffee was also good, making many customers visit the coffee shop daily. From my visit to the coffee house, which was between 4 pm and 6 pm, I managed to interact with many people as the customers were very friendly and engaged with each other. My trips to Starbucks were generally enjoyable and revitalizing, giving me enough energy to continue with the rest of my evening. I always felt the urge to go back to the shop every day and really looked forward to the two hours I spent at Starbucks.
Preferred Coffee Drinks
Out of the many types of coffee made at Starbucks, iced white chocolate mocha was frequently ordered. Many people enjoyed the chocolate taste the coffee gave it a totally different taste from other types of coffee. I, too, enjoyed the coffee as it was smooth, giving a fantastic feeling as it moves through the mouth. The milk and ice in the coffee plus the sweetened whipped cream made the coffee be an extraordinary piece of work, which will make anybody want to have more of it every day. Iced caramel macchiato also had many orders. It was made from vanilla-flavored syrup, ice, milk, and caramel drizzle was on the top, making the coffee one of the best. The caramel taste in the coffee gave it a distinctive taste, which made the coffee an enjoyable drink hence attracting many customers. The type of coffee ordered was uniformly distributed, and one could not say it was preferred by a certain group, for example, males or females.
Type of customers and their preferences
Starbucks was visited by many people, mainly those aged between 18 and 29. These were mainly college students and young office workers. The college students did their homework at the shop while having a cup of coffee. The young office workers also refreshed themselves after a long day at work. The coffee made them feel better and added some energy, making everyone feel strong again. There were also a good number of middle-aged people between the ages of 30 and 49 and relatively few numbers of older people between 50 and 69 years. Starbucks was, therefore, a meeting point for people of different ages and backgrounds. There were more male customers than a female who came to take a cup of coffee. The customers would order for their drinks then sit in groups enjoying the drink while making stories making the place be filled with a lot of laughter from every corner. The few people who ordered takeaway drinks seemed to be working at night, so they enjoyed their coffee at work.
Interactions in the Coffee House
Many people came alone since they were coming from different places. Those who came in groups were mainly students coming from school. However, many people left in groups. After receiving their orders, people would sit in groups catching up with each other. They were frequent visitors, and many had formed strong bonds between them. New faces were also warmly welcomed as they could join the groups so long as they were not in a hurry. The staff also had an excellent customer service experience. They worked peacefully with each other hence preventing a lot of customers complains in the shop. They served their clients with respect, and all of them wore a smiling face. Their services were excellent, making any person who visited the place come back again the next day. The place was ideal for releasing stress since you would enjoy your coffee and everything in the shop, creating a relaxed feeling.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the experience was an awesome one. I enjoyed every moment at Starbucks and also made new friends. Through the project, I realized the importance of a relaxation treat after a tiresome day and how it helped in revitalizing a person such that they could feel fresh and energetic again. I realized many Americans love coffee, and the environment determines a lot on the number of customers you will serve. Americans prefer a pleasant atmosphere with good music and excellent aroma and lighting to just the quality of a product. Yes, quality is essential, but when accompanied with other necessities, the customers will have no option but to visit the place to have a taste of the combination. Time management is very crucial as it will enable you to have some time to spare for relaxation. Although it was not easy at the start of the project to commit to the two hours I had set aside, I managed my time properly, enabling me to fix the project, giving it enough time. Through the project, I learned about time management and the importance of socializing. Socializing can help a person release the stress; hence they can think appropriately. On the other hand, the project contributed to a consequence in my financial management. It added an expense I did not plan, forcing me to adjust my budget.
