There are various techniques, ideas and methods that can be used in a film to bring out the perfect film niche and scope of the themes to the target audience. The producers of the films normally ensure that the correct mood is set by using styles like the motif and costumes or at times use various techniques or ideas. This paper looks at the film, Amadeus, one of the classic movies produced in 1984 focusing on the technique used and the ideas that are presented in the field as well without looking at the review or the film or describing the general reaction towards the film.
Looking at the film in a more vivid view, it is clear that the characters are mostly in costumes which, during that period were mostly for performances, specifically for dance and music. This is one of the styles that the producer uses to bring out the mood that the film is most likely to entail a lot of singing and dance which indeed happens as the film progresses. The use of these peculiar costumes as a style brings about a classical mood that anyone is able to notice from the start.
The style makes the movie look classical and old school when viewed then and even currently. Costumes as a style used in the film communicate a lot to the viewers as there are able to identify easily what is going on in the film and what they expect to see from the start. The costume designer, Pistek was one of the best in the 1960s since he had designed costumes for more than 100 films in that time. He, therefore, comes up with the most creative costumes for the film which bothers the director at first. For example, to huge wigs that the costume director puts on one of the actors became a bother at first but the director later concurred with it after Pistek explained what role it plays.
Motif as a style is one of the styles that has been used in the film as well to help the director and the actors bring out the setting of the entire show. There are several motifs used in the film for example prayer which is the most significant and frequently heard motifs which its emphasis brings about a theme of religion in the entire plot of the film. In several occasions, there is a prayer said in the film thus the targeted audiences are able to know that a certain religion is presented in the plot. Alongside prayers, the issue of loans and financial situation is brought about repetitively thus bringing up the style of the motif in the film.
Conclusion
The motif style in loans is presented in the film as Mozart's financial status worsens, he becomes more desperate. He goes to the extent of appealing to Salieri for a loan, who, however, rejects his appeal. He also tries to appeal to Michael Schlumberg, the person whose daughter Mozart once refused to train due to the number of dogs in the man's home; this request bores no fruits as well. This is a motif as its repetition brings about a theme of the economics of the area. The audience are able to observe something from the discussions. The above discussed, among other styles are used by the film directors to ensure that the setting, the plot and the themes are well brought out in the story.
