There is sufficient supply of crude oil for the next several decades since crude oil is formed from decaying plants and animals which died many years ago. When transported through pipeline or ships which passes through the sea, oil spills and leaks cause water pollution.

The net energy produced is high though it decreases. Crude oil has many components which produces different energy levels. Environmental costs are not considered when calculating the market price. Crude oil causes environmental pollution which is not considered when calculating its price.

Crude oil has low land disruption since activities such as farming and road construction do not disrupt it. The products of crude oil produce carbon dioxide and other air pollutants when burned.

There is efficient distribution system for crude oil. The supply of crude oil internationally is vulnerable to interruptions.

There are a lot of oil deposit in earth, for instance oils can be drilled on land and under the sea or ocean surfaces. As such, there is an abundant supply of oil. Crude oil is contributing significantly to the increasing levels of carbon emission. Carbon di oxide gas has led to global warming.

Oil exists in liquid form. This state of oil makes transportation easier. Oil can be transported through pipeline, roads or over the water bodies such as oceans and sea for long distances Arguable, some scientists doubt the sustainability of the oil resources in the future. It is high probable that it may be fully exhausted and depleted.

Energy sources must have significant heating values to remain viable. Oil has a high heating value which makes it preferred by many consumers Drilling oils poses grave environmental consequences, which makes the areas unfavorable for human life.

The cost of drilling oil, transportation and refining is relatively cheaper. This makes it an economic commodity that is crucial for development of other sectors. Oil spills are major environmental disasters. For example, ship transporting oils have caused major ecological damage to aquatic life.

Technology that is used by oil companies have been in existence for ages. As such, there are little technological disruptions in oil industries. The technology that has been used in recovering oil is old. Therefore, it is imperative to develop new technologies that will enhance yields
