Ecuador is a Spanish speaking South American country with a Pacific coastline. It shares a border with Colombia to the North and Peru in the South East. The state has a population of approximately 16 million people. Quinto with a community of 1.6 million people is the second largest city in Ecuador and serves as the capital city (Haines, 2018). The primary currency for Ecuador is the US dollar, which Ecuadorians use for both large and small transactions except for the coins where they use sucre.

As one would imagine, the name Ecuador comes from the name of the Equator, which crosses the country. The geography of the country has three distinct areas. There are the central highlands, then there are the jungles, which is an extension of the Amazon forest, and then there are the coastal plains, which are commonly referred to as Costa (Ecuador.com, n.d.).

Like in most Spanish speaking countries, Christianity is the main religion in Ecuador, specifically Catholicism which accounts for the most significant percentage of the population (Adventure Life, n.d.). As a former Spanish colony, Ecuador's culture has a strong Spanish influence. Although Spanish is the official language, a few sections of the community speak the traditional dialect of Quichuan. According to (Adventure Life, n.d.) the Inca language is spoken by mostly the indigenous Indian population. Tourist cities such as Quinto have English as their second language. Furthermore, the secondary and primary school have English as a language requirement because of its international recognition.

Most of the buildings in the cities of Ecuador have colonial architecture borrowed from the Spanish. Their music incorporates a wide variety of musical instruments; starting from the most common tools such as the guitar and drum to the lesser known bamboo and pan flutes. There are also other string instruments such as the charango, which is a favorite for the local bands.

Ecuador's culture is a mix of Spanish and indigenous Quechua people. It is a small country with a fairly small population which allows rapid spread of new practices such as adoption of English as a second language. Majority of the people are theists and follow the Catholic denomination. The Ecuadorians have a strong passion for music which is one of their main forms of entertainment.
