Introduction

I prefer watching stories at the movies since they project the realism of how the events happened. The characters are given roles which they effectively execute through verbal and non-verbal skills to enhance the message of the central theme. I consider television, moving, and plays as a good source of entertainment as well as educational. The content the projects to the audience comprises of the actual societal happening, which most people are not aware of or are ignorant. Moreover, they mold lessons to be entertaining, which, in turn, makes the audience to be captivated. As a result, the message sticks into the audience's minds. For this viewing analysis assignment, I chose Black Lightning

I selected Black lightning because of its science fiction fantasy, which I think is essential in understanding various aspects of life. The characterization in film aids in this function. The main character, Jefferson Pierce, fights the forces that leave him with no choice other than to be the Black Lightning. His decision and transitions in life depict how life is a mystery, and no one can predict his/her future. The show also talks on important controversial topics such as racism, injustices, and family. Notably, the opening scene in the first season of the show introduces each character based on the emotions and the personality they are likely to depict in the rest of the show. For instance, Jefferson is presented as an unhappy man when he pulled over again for a crime he did not commit due to his ethnicity. This part shows the injustices, which is one of the primary influenced to be the Black Lightning.

Also, Jennifer and Anissa Pierce, Jefferson's daughters, are part of the main cast. They play a vital role in influencing Jefferson to be the Black Lightning. Together with their father, they work to bring justice, especially to the girls captured by the 100 crime gang. Peter Gambi is also the main cast and plays as the mentor and a friend to Jefferson. He is excited with the Black Lighting Superheroic figure; thus, he encourages Jefferson to use the power to save the world.

Importantly, the plot makes sense, and it is logical. The conflict experienced by Jefferson reflects what many people encounter. He has a gift that he can use to save the world, but at the same, it is causing him to be happy. The choices he makes teach the audience how to make the best decisions that are satisfactory to self and others. For instance, he decides to be Black Lightning to save his daughters from 100 Gang, where he also manages to save other girls. The storyline has made me reflect on a situation where I experienced dilemmas in making decisions. On many occasions, especially where other's interests were involved, I made decisions that were convenient to them, ignoring my needs.

Moreover, the show depicts a lot of negativity in our culture. The first is that racism still exists, and the minor races are highly discriminated against. For instance, when Jefferson is asked to pull over because he is black. Again, the film insists that society is full of opportunistic and greedy people to strive to make themselves rich at the expense of other's safety and life. For instance, the 100 gang kidnaps girls to sell them to slavery.

Another vital part that constitutes the effectiveness of the film is technicalities. One useful technical element used in the series is soundtracks and music that accompanies the theme. They help in inflicting the emotions of each part of the scenes in the episodes. For instance, in the scenes in which Jefferson beat up the evil people, the soundtracks portray the magnitude of each hit. Furthermore, the language used in the storyline is moderate, which fits the main characters' traits, especially concerning their social status. All of the leading players in the plot are from the middle class, which means that their mastering of language does not involve sophisticated vocabulary.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I would watch this show regularly as enjoyable. The science-fiction part portrayed by the Black Lightning provides a unique angle of viewing life through education and entertainment. I love the storyline due to its high predictability. For instance, at the end of season two, the protagonist's enemy is defeated and sent to the pit, the meta-human prison. I think that his status now makes him feel vengeful, and he will surely organize his escape. Once he is out, he will plan his revenge strategically without the Pierces noticing and will strike them hard with pain.
