The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief review of the five articles that will be used as evidenced-based on stress management in the workplace. Out of these five articles, two will entail a primary research study journal. Secondly, two of the remaining articles will be based on publications from a discipline outside of nursing, and one of these is to be chosen from business, leadership, or management journal and the last article be reviewed from a multi-discipline journal.
Primary Research Article
Two primary research articles were reviewed, according to the Journal of American critical care, (Rushton, Batcheller, Schroeder & Donohue, 2015) carried out a study on "burnout and resilience among nurses practicing in high-intensity settings." The research was aimed at enhancing the creation of a healthy work environment as well as designing a two-phase project to foster nurses' resilience. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to characterize the experiences of high-stress nursing. A record of one hundred and fourteen nurses completed six survey tools to assess the nurse's characteristics. It was found out that moral distress a significant predictor more so in the three aspects of burnout; hence, the association between resilience and burnout was not correct (Woodhead, Northrop & Edelstein, 2016)
Professional Journal Article, Business
One business article was reviewed, which elaborated whether stress was worth it more so in "wealth trade-offs for entrepreneurs." The study examined whether the effects of stress on individual health are associated with the productive results concerning entrepreneurs hence making stress-related somewhat "value" for self-employed people. It was found out that entrepreneurs experience more stress as compared to employees due to the inability to control past income as well as prior health (Cardon & Patel, 2015).
Professional Journal Article, Management
One article was reviewed about workplace stress in management, according to (Prins, Bates, Keyes & Muntaner, 2015) employees/ individuals in the middle of the social hierarchy typically do suffer from anxiety and depression than those at the bottom or top level. In the research, it indicated that workers of different class locations usually have higher odds of anxiety and depression as compared to occupants of non-contradictory class locations.
Multi-Discipline Journal Article
Lastly, one article was reviewed, which demonstrates many aspects related to workplace stress among police officers in the United States. The research examined the police officers characteristics such as race, relationship status, age, children living in the home, military experience, time in policing as well as community size. Also, it examined various effects of specific incidents, coping on alcohol use, social stressors, and lastly posttraumatic stress disorder concerning men (Menard, & Arter, 2014).
