Introduction
A theme park refers to a place with several attractions which are made up of rides like water rides and roller coasters. Most of them contain different types of selections of rides as well as entertainment outlets, shops and restaurants. A theme park is enjoyed by the children, adults, and teenagers.
In recent years, several changes have been made across the world to improve and retain to better shape our collective environment. Many states and nations have made numerous efforts to bring the problem to a rational solution without interfering with the living organism that is present in such areas. In other countries, theme parks have been sensitized to mount pressure on the use and disposal areas of plastic bags. In supermarkets and manufacturing companies, restrictions have been made on the number of plastic bags that are being used.
Interestingly they are forced to adapt to other means of covering their goods upon making sales to reduce erratic disposing of plastic bags anyhow (Jakovcevic et al., 2014). Besides, Unions have proposed a ban on plastic and their uses in several areas. Legislative measures have also been put in place to eradicate any attempt of further use of plastic bags in a theme park. For example, in California a fine of up to $ 1000 or jail punishment has been put to any person whole will be found using plastics or sensitizing for its manufacturing as well as in sales where foods are put in plastic straws. Similarly, other cities have also made punishment the only possible way to eradicate instances of plastic bags usage in their parks. As a result, the world incorporation with other agencies has finally started to wake up to eliminate the putrid smell of non-decomposing plastic which exposes the lives of people into danger especially in parks. This proposal examines how responsible theme parks deal with plastic problems to keep the environment clean and safe from any hazards that may harm the human race.
Aim and Objectives
Aim
To critically assess how responsible theme parks handle problems associated with the different types of plastics to identify factors and effects of such items to the environment and the people within it.
Objectives
- To critically assess different types of bulky plastics and their waste problems as well as the operations by the theme park officials and local authorities on the growing state of the waste in the area.
- To evaluate research methods as well as the data collection methods which are prudent for obtaining crucial information based on plastic problems.
- To evaluate and classify the operation of plastics eradication and recovery schemes nationally.
- To make recommendations to improve the role of the theme park and its operational effectiveness to maximize recovery opportunities associated with the bulky waste collection of plastic bags.
Justification Statement
The purpose of this proposal is to examine the role of the theme park as well as their position in dealing with different types of plastics for the safety of the environment. While most plastics are non-biodegradable and recycling them after they use is usually a major challenge, most people prefer decomposing them or sometimes burn them as a way of getting rid of them. As a result, the environment is exposed to massive pollution that requires basic knowledge to bring the situation to be normal. The broad topic of the effects of plastic has received attention from different environmental agencies and the government (Parsons & Rose, 2018). However, the procedure of eradication is not the focus of that attention. Similarly, other bodies and participants have been included in the research process for a comprehensive study, for example, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
As the environment faces increased threats and pollution due to poor disposal of plastic, human life is the one which is exposed to massive risk. Years ago, manufacturers, supermarkets, wholesalers and people were not aware of the harmful effects of plastics on the environment and to a life of living organisms. The rationale was assumed by most of them as well as the environmentalist. However, a few years ago, the knowledge about the effects of plastic bags has realized, and proper attention is mandatory from all bodies, both governmental and non-governmental to ensure that the environment is safe for all living things (Parsons & Rose, 2018). The results of this proposal will provide adequate insight into how plastics can be disposed of appropriately and handled by the theme park for the safety of the environment and the general public. With the changes based on the efforts being made by the theme park with all risks, understanding the effects of plastics on the environment and people must be justified and approached correctly to lower further risks.
The data collected through this project proposal has the potential to create awareness on the effect of plastic bags to the environment and to provide the necessary information that can be used by the theme park to improve prevention plans on the non-biodegradable items which are released by different companies and industries. In so doing, low-risk assumed in the environments could be easily be avoided at the theme parks before escalating to higher risk which might be hard to overcome (Green et al., 2015). Furthermore, the project proposal results may provide organizations and environmentalist with information that potentially be used to address the effects of excessive disposition of plastics to the environments.
Research methods and Design
This chapter provides a methodology that was used in the process of a research study. It focuses on the population of the research study, a research design that was used, sample size, the target population of the research study as well as the instruments for data collection, analysis, and presentation.
This research proposal employed a descriptive research design. The factors surround different types of plastics are described based on the data collection method deployed to help theme park address all the questions that surround issues related to environmental degradation as well as the status of the subject (Bowns et al., 2018). Descriptive research designs were preferred for the study especially at the preliminary and exploratory stages to allow theme park transgress in gather necessary information based on the effect of plastic bags, summaries and present the outcome for interpretation. Descriptive approach gave broad approaches of study process of determining the subject and making an adequate report for a comprehensive analysis. The steps involved in this descriptive research approach aimed at formulating the objectives that will help in reducing further incidences about the effects of plastic bags.
Survey
A vast due area of study, the proposal focused on the survey approach to ensure that all the predetermined regions are covered. Similarly, through the survey most information was retrieved and addressed according to the requirements of the environmental requirement and basics. Through the survey, the research explored the understanding of consumers about biodegradability as well as their potential reactions to the future exemption of biodegradable bags across all charges. Interestingly, the survey gave an adequate knowledge of the respondents that most participants gave about the efforts which are being made by the theme park on eradicating the entire biodegradable bag and their effects to the environment (Bowns et al., 2018). According to the reports from the survey, most participants in the discussion groups argued that a wider variety of disposal routes in necessary for all bags labeled biodegradable. This was adopted fast by the theme park that ensured that bin liner and recycling machines are made available to put the situation to a better form. However, although some participants recommended that due to guilt among some of them about taking new plastics some have managed to maximize of that to transgress deeply in the knowing more about biodegradable one. As a result, theme park aged to analyze the survey results for future exemptions on the types of plastics which should be allowed into the environment and the ones which should not be disposed of without keen observation.
Data Collection Methods
Questionnaire
Empirical data of the study were collected through the use of questionnaires from the sample size which was obtained especially the ones related to biodegradable plastic bags in theme parks. The study involved both structured and unstructured questions to collect information on the subject matter (Jakovcevic et al., 2014). The structured questions outlined a list of all alternatives which the respondents could select from and give answers based on the descriptions needed; whereas the unstructured questions had complete freedom which the respondent may need while giving their opinions on the study topic.
Interestingly, contingency was preferred for all the subsequent questions employed by the theme park in identifying the relationship between the environment and the effects of plastics for more information - however, each item in the questionnaire aimed at addressing particular research questions and objectives of the study. The theme parks administered the survey to all the respective respondents to be used in the proposal.
Interview
Here, the researchers approached the respondent with lists or scheduled question which they used to collect information about the topic of study. All response and replies were recorded and used to formulate the best approach to use in handling the issue of plastics. Consequently, the research was able to develop a comprehensive discussion with a group plastic regulatory body for further information on the approach.
Conclusions
Urbanization in most countries has been seen as the main cause of environmental degradation with plastic bags. The joint research from the data collected revealed that without shared responsibility theme park may experience a total mess-up. However if the behaviors of individuals can be predicted about how they use and dispose of the wastes, the issues of poor disposal of plastics may be handled amicably. All risks associated with plastic bags were realized to be created by the technology and human technology impacts. Most of the results from the human intervention of nature. However, the risks are very many among the manufacturers as compared to anyone else especially in terms of global warming, contamination, pollution, consumption, and urbanization.
Recommendation
Due to lack of proper approach to the risks and dangers associated with plastics in theme parks especially at the higher levels, the amount of bags has increased adversely. As a result, the menace has resulted in global risks especially from the manufacturers to the consumers. To contain this spread the following are the recommendations for narrowing up the gap and contain the hazards.
To enact into law all the proposed policy instruments governing theme parks by international environmentalists and presented to them to the entire world.
The affected theme parks to adopt and implement these policies adequately and within the most appropriated time.
