Introduction
Wearable technology in the medical field is becoming an essential concept in collecting data from the patients to help improve their health condition. The integration of microchips on wristbands and the smartwatches is becoming a concept widely exploited by the medical field in the United States, as the development of medical field seeks to gather more data from the patients to help offer specified treatment to the condition of the patient. Thus, the essay will critically elucidate on how wearable devices are used to help improve the patients' health through collecting real-time data.
Wearable technology is becoming a conventional and social, norm for many Americans, especially those with a greater sense of their health (Pevnick, et al., 2018). The use of the electronic devices, in the healthcare system, is widely embraced, due to the accuracy of data that can be used for medical treatment of the patient. As a result, the wearable devices provide the medical history to help join the patterns of treatment to the patient, especially to those with special needs.
According to Amft, (2018), wearable technology relies heavily on different sensor styles, which can record various data. The sensors can be found on clothing, or even jewelry, which helps to monitor, diagnose, and even offer treatment solutions. The data obtained from the patient is analyzed using special coded programs that help gather data and process to provide the potential solution to the patient.
As Krey, (2020) observed, fitness trackers are among the easiest and most common examples of wearable technology devices that are widely used in the US. Nearly 33% of the population in 2019 have used or are still using the fitness tracker to help measure the physical activities and heart levels during physical training (Krey, 2020). The increase of cardiovascular-related diseases in the older population is highly increasing the need for wearable technology, to help monitor the heart rates of many older generations in the United States. While the advancement in the medical sector is being driven by the advancement in technology, so does the use of wearable technology.
The wearable technology has been widely supported by the growth of technology in the United States, healthcare facilities in the nation both federal and States' healthcare, are highly embracing the use of wearable technology since they give accurate and reliable data. More so, the advancement in technology and the availability of smartphones across the United States makes it easier, and affordable to use wearable technology. Additionally, most of the wearable technology is programed with a user-friendly interface that gives the user the ability to read and analyze essential data generated from his or her body (Galea, et al., 2020 ). Through this, wearable technology is gaining momentum in the US since it is affordable and easier to use for a larger population.
The use of wearable technology devices offers numerous benefits to the patients, through monitoring their heart rates, as well as sleep patterns. The focus of the wearable technology devices in the healthcare sector is to help increase benefits to the health of the patient. As Pevnick, et al., (2018) observed, the wearable technology device is a suitable technology for patients with chronic illness and requires constant monitoring. While the benefits of this technology in widely geared to the patients' benefits, wearable technology plays a vital role for the medical experts.
Data plays a vital role in the medical experts, especially when dealing with patients that require explicitly care to their treatment. Wearable technology provides real-time data to help assess and analyze the condition of the patient. The use of real-time data helps doctors to prioritize the patient's condition.
Conclusion
In the bottom line, wearable technology in the United States is playing a significant role in improving the medical condition of patients. The goal of the wearable technology is to help provide real-time data to both the patient and the doctors. More so, the wearable technology is helping to improve the physical activities of patients, through recording their routine activities to help measure the burned calories in a day.
