Introduction

Is the United States losing the global public relations battle? Why? As a global public relations professional, I will explain why I believe why the answer to this question is a straight yes. Public relations is predominantly a strategic communication process that establishes a mutually vital relationship between organizations and the clients, the nation, and the public and the company with its stakeholders. Broadly, Public relations professionals have the responsibility of representing people and brands from different cultures and backgrounds.

The desire to gain global dominance in the world through trade and media has been dominated by the world's major nations, including the U.S., China, Russia, and France. Ideally, the desire to trade with other countries, particularly the developing counties in Asia and Africa, has undeniably led to severe geopolitical competition. In recent times, nations have struggled to scramble for the impoverished African countries by offering them financial assistance and resources aimed at promoting their economies. China and U.S. have competed on the developments of the new (Lederman, 2019).

It is in the midst of this competition that the U.S. has been expected to dominate the world, particularly the third world nations in Africa, Asia, and South America. The U.S. PR professionals have failed to advise the U.S. government as well as the investors about the primary need and interests of the citizens of the countries to be dominated. The global influence of the United States is, therefore, fast-diminishing as the so-called third-world nations have diverted their attention to the nations they believe can finance their economies and major governmental projects. In Africa, for example, the evidence is everywhere.

Interestingly, China will pump almost $90 billion into the continent in a yea. The U.S., on the other hand, will put nothing. China's decision is undeniably a move to invest big on the economic partnerships as well as the dependencies along its Silk Road that has been inaugurated, "One Belt, One Road". Instead of imitating the same procedures and channels to come up with even a more substantial project than China's, U.S. is spending millions of dollars on highly expensive warfare to the detriment of soft-power initiatives such as the USAID. Thus, I can confidently state that America's global P.R. influence is certainly dwindling and fast-declining now and years to come. This is an inevitable consequence of the return of the Middle East Superpowers. In the wake of these events, the United States must be more intentional regarding the policy choices it adopts and makes. Failure to do so would mean that the North American superpower is will soon learn the hard way, bad for the innocent Americans who have even higher expectations for their country (Olmsted, 2019)

The time is ripe, however. The U.S. can do something to redeem its lost glory as of the global leader in terms of the P.R. issues. Its 45th President swung into power at the time when the nation was struggling financially in expensive wars and increased inequality. Instead of reversing the situation to suit the well-being of the Americans, he went on to prioritize wars than the overseas investments (Cohen, 2019). To counter this trend and China's global rise, the Statement Department must begin to make substantial investments on social media. The essential issues such as the internet freedom must be elevated as a core policy. They should go-ahead to spend millions of dollars on internet freedom projects in continents such as Africa and Asia. Those of us on the global sidelines, the U.S. anxious auxiliaries, understand a collapse within the instruments of a country's power whenever it happens. The collapse in Britain was contributed by imperialism left loathing. The US has the capability to avoid this and still gain her global share.
