Introduction
Gastrointestinal (GI) disturbances are a series of organs problem that occurs in the digestive system. In particular, people who are suffering from GI disturbance experience stomach pain, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, and much more (Hunter et al., 2018). Due to the complexity of the condition, the problem is referred to as the functional GI system.
In the scenario, Peter is a 54-year-old man with a three-year history of epigastric discomfort, bloating, and gas, which has increased in the past three months. Peter illustrates that taking large meals and lying down subjects him to critical pain, but he takes antacids, which offer a short term pain relief. He experiences heartburn and sometimes chests hurt, especially after eating. Peter also demonstrates that he experiences nausea, vomiting, and uneven bowel habits. He tends to skip some meals to avoid dysphagia and stomach pain. Additionally, Peter experiences constipation in about three days a week. The condition makes Peter strain during a bowel movement, which triggers other anal problems such as fissures. As such, the condition subjects him to stress, and this has triggered his weight loss.
Based on the scenario, Peter is suffering from GI disturbance. In this case, Peter has a problem with his gastrointestinal tract, which has affected his mode of eating. Constipation is a key problem that is highly experienced among patients that are suffering from GI disturbance. Usually, the problem does not occur daily but is experienced in different periods. When the condition occurs, the stool appears small, hard, dry, and this makes it hard to pass out.
According to Hunter et al. (2018), irregular eating programs as been associated with the condition. When a person engages in irregular eating, there are high chances that they may experience dehydration or lack of particular food components such as fiber. Therefore, the tendency of Peter to skip some meals may lead to the low fiber content in the food, which may trigger the rise of constipation. Furthermore, the high application of antacid medicines has been associated with the rising cases of constipation (Ladopoulos et al., 2018). The condition commonly if antacid drugs contain a high level of calcium or aluminum.
According to Peter's Medical conditions, people tend to skip some meals to avoid dysphagia. Swallowing pain is one of the critical challenges that people who are suffering from GI disturbances experience (Ladopoulos et al., 2018). Usually, dysphagia is highly associated with Crohn problems, which occur due to swollen track, and this causes pain during swallowing (Hunter et al., 2018). Crohn disease is a GI problem that occurs due to digestion tract infection. Based on track infection, the condition may trigger blood or mucus on the stool. This condition is associated with the driving approach toward weight loss.
In the clinical presentation, Peter is suffering from GI disturbance. He has primary signs such as constipation and vomiting, which are highly associated with disturbance (Hunter et al., 2018). Peter finds it challenging to eat due to digestion track infection regularly. Additionally, the irregular eating system has subjected Peter to stress and weight loss. Based on the scenario, there are several questions that need to be answered. First, which conditions are required to be integrated to improve Peter's health condition? Is it possible that the health condition is associated with family linage? Which nature of food should peter integrate to control the continuing problem?
