The development of technology has negatively impact self-identification. Usually, young people need to feel that they have control of a particular aspect of their lives (Loyd et al., 2019). However, the condition becomes challenging if they are under the influence of the external aspect. Usually, a young individual may experience a challenge in identifying the most effective values to deploy when interacting with people. The approach may affect them to feel less worthy, which affect their ways of making decisions (Loyd et al., 2019). Based on the conditions, there are high chances that teenagers may ignore some values that are effective for their values. Lack of better self-control increases the chances of deploying careless behaviors, which affect their social interaction. As such, they may end up engaging personalities to fight, which affects the quality of life.

Hence, external aspects such as peer may influence a teen to engage in drugs as they try to improve their self-identity.
