Time management is important because time is a scarce resource that needs to be managed effectively. Since a day has only 24 hours, then that time needs to be managed effectively. , when one learns to manage time well it is possible to accomplish more tasks with very little effort. This is because is the focus is enhanced then efficiency increases. When there is focus momentum is not lost, and the tasks will move quickly (Forsyth, 2007). When time is managed well the decision-making process is improved. When one is pressed with time and is expected to make a decision, then a conclusion which is not well-thought is likely to be made without considering various options. When time is well managed, one is likely to make decisions when calm without rushing because rushed decisions are not likely to be the best. When one manages time well he/she likely to be successful because one can have total control of life and not just to follow the flow of things. Good time management, therefore, allows one to be on top of issues.
Time management refers planning of time and conscious exercise on the control of time which is spent on particular activities. The time management is usually done to increase the effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency. To manage time effectively, one needs to juggle between hobbies, social life, work, and hobbies. When time is effectively used, one is given an option on how to spend activities at their convenient time (Forsyth, 2007). When time is well managed, one can work smartly so that a lot can be done in the little time possible if in situations where time is very tight, and the pressures are very high. Failure to manage time effectively affects the effectiveness of the activities performed and can cause stress. For one to manage time effectively, there is a need for focus shift from being activity oriented to result-oriented. In time management being busy does not mean that one is effective because one can be busy but not effective (Mancini, 2007). The following are benefits of managing time effectively:

- Urgent but not important. These are the activities which are highly valued by people, but in the real impact, they make very little change in society.
- Not so urgent and not important. These activities which do not add value to the individuals or the society but they just exist (Mancini, 2007).
For time to be managed effectively both at the individual and organizational level, planning is very important because it gives a clear picture of what needs to be done. Prior planning makes one have prior planning on the activities to be performed before their actual date. Reducing the number of distractions at any given is important (Mancini, 2007). Any form of distractions affects time management because the time to be attended to.
Since there is no sufficient time to perform certain activities it I important to get some people who can be trusted. Juniors can be given instructions on how to perform a certain task so that they can do them on behalf of the one who is tasked to perform such a responsibility. When delegation is done the one who was supposed to perform such a responsibility gets time to perform other duties which are relevant to the job description. The major areas on the time management areas include: The creation of an environment which can create effectiveness; the setting of the priorities; the time that is spent on the things which are not important should be reduced (Mancini, 2007). To manage tasks effectively, the schedules should be well planned. The tasks should have a list of work that needs to be accomplished at home at home and the personal. Schedules help one in ensuring that all the tasks planned are accomplished. Deadlines should also be set on particular tasks so that they are not performed without time limits (Mancini, 2007). Should also challenge oneself in ensuring that those timelines are met.
Procrastination is a drawback to the management of time, therefore, it should be avoided at all the costs. Procrastinations affect productivity because it results in the wastage of essential time and energy. If one accepts to do more work that his/her ability, then it will bring about stress, it is therefore important to do the work that one believes can manage and finish within the stipulated timelines. One is working without being overworked, then the task being performed becomes interesting because one can enjoy the work he /she is doing. It is essential that one focuses on a particular task and avoid multitasking because multitasking can waste a loss of valuable time. Multitasking works against productivity, and therefore it should be avoided at all the costs. Apart from focusing on one particular task making one manage time effectively it also ensures that the task being undertaken is performed effectively (Mancini, 2007). When one has a task that needs to be performed, it is crucial that it begins earlier, when work begins earlier one gets the time to contemplate plan and then execute the task.
Without proper planning, the task might not be performed effectively. Resting is also an essential time management skill, though it might appear as if it is contradictory, it is important for one to have a break so that one can have the energy to undertake the tasks hence improving on productivity. When one is exhausted, the productivity will drop because when one is tired the performance will drop (Mancini, 2007). It is, therefore, important to avoid the temptation to overwork because it is one of how time is wasted.
The following are some strategies which will ensure that time is well-managed:
- The plans should be adapted to fit the changing circumstances
- Time should be allocated for particular tasks
- The processes should be analyzed, and then the simplest ways of accomplishing the tasks should be selected
- One should ask for help when he/she feels that the tasks are overwhelming
- One should be assertive enough to say no when given tasks that are inappropriate because they distract one from the main tasks
- The tasks that are more complex should be handled when one has more energy and is fresh in mind.
- The manner in which time is spent should be audited so that there is not time which is wasted
- The excessive small talks with co-workers should be avoided
- The broader goals should be broken down into smaller tasks, and then one task should be focused at a time.
- The make lists should be broken into daily, weekly and monthly and then the timelines set on their completion (Richter, 2014).
Communication
Human communication is very important because it is the only way in which information is shared. There are five main types of communication which happens between individuals and teams. Verbal communication which is also called oral communication refers to the type of communication that takes place orally between individuals. The main objective of such type of communication is to make sure that individuals understand the message being conveyed. Verbal communication due to its nature is very quick and precise. Though this is an era of technology still most people prefer meeting or making phone calls which is part of the verbal communication because such means of communication are convenient in conveying messages (Steinberg, 2007). In today's world, verbal communication is considered strength because it is the method of communication that is used in lecture halls, courts of laws and even in airlines.
A good mastery of oral communication is considered an asset that drives audiences and earns one admiration. A company director or a manager needs to have good oral communication skills to communicate effectively with his/her employees. This is because a manager or a director has to deal with a team of people and therefore needs to have the necessary skills to convince them so that they can see things from his/her view. Any individual more especially those in authority need to master their oral skills and ensure that their speeches are precise and straight to the point so that there is no room for any misunderstanding (Steinberg, 2007. This form of communication is also referred to as interpersonal communication. One can tell through the body language whether one is serious or not. Equally, it is possible for one to judge the position of an individual in society through body language. Different professions dictate the manner in which the body language is used (Steinberg, 2007. For instance, a manager in a company who panics and is not good regarding the non-verbal skills will not be an admiration amongst the members of the team.
When a manager or a topmost employee is poorly dressed will convey a wrong body language, and such kind of a person is not likely to get a huge following. Body touch which is part of non-verbal communication plays a very important role in consoling or motivating somebody. For instance, if one keeps a hand on the shoulder of somebody who is sad or troubled by a certain issue is a way of showing concern, and it may go a long way towards consoling that individual. Other forms of non-verbal communication include smiling and listening (Steinberg, 2007). The non-verbal communication is therefore important in human relationships.
Written Communication
One of the widest forms of written communication is the email. However, slowly with the coming of the Facebook and the Whatssup, the written form of communication has become informal. The written forms of communication can either be formal or informal depending on the mode used and the person or people being addressed. The written form of communication acts as the final word after a decision has been made. Written communication is also used when one is applying for a job, making written submissions in a court of law or when promoting an employee (Steinberg, 2007). The main disadvantage is that the communication is so formal and is likely to incite some ego or cause some political problems.
Informal and Formal Communication
In considering formality, there exist two types of communication: the formal and the informal. The formal type of communication is mostly used when writing reports, emails, letterheads, memoranda and other written materials which require the formal type of communication. This kind of formal documents is considered as documentary evidence because there is no way one can submit them and then later deny or refute the information they contain. The informal communication is used in the communication where nothing official is communicated. It is sometimes referred to as grapevine communication (Steinberg, 2007).
